Try to imagine "doctoring" that guy knowing that he had liquidated untold numbers of your colleagues--for being doctors and for being Jewish. Stalin was indeed the worst human being we know of. He not only directly killed a ton, he indirectly killed many more. A true monster.

Two of my friends were playing High or Low one time while I was "watching", they were only drinking beer. The dealer was sitting on the floor just in front of the couch where I was sitting. Our other friend was sitting across from us. My dealer friend pulled up the card, I'd give a quick up/down/even indicator, and the other friend would call it out. It took the one friend well over half the deck to figure out what we were doing. She's never been the smartest bulb on the tree. :D

Those probably weren't exaggerations, the stories about the deputies at his Supreme Soviet appearances, unwilling to stop applauding for fear of becoming "the dude who stopped applauding--shortly before his untimely death."

I assume the basic facts are as reported. You know, unionized teachers exert an enormous amount of political power in Michigan. That may account for the reluctance of the Freep to cover the story. Far worse to me than the union wanting this guy to get his severance package was teachers asking the judge for mitigation of sentence. Any teacher who asks for mercy for a convicted child rapist should find another line of work, IMO.

This is my biggest gripe with unions. When they rally around and try to protect a member who deserves their scorn. They damage their union in the process. It seems to me they should work to protect the union, protect the reputation of their upstanding union members, and want to rid themselves of scumbags like this.

There should be limits, even to "solidarity." Try to imagine a colleague with whom you'd worked. Someone you liked, even. And it turns out he's a child rapist. Convicted. Multiple counts. Would you be inclined to write a letter on his behalf to the judge prior to sentencing? I wouldn't want to be in the same zip code with him, let alone stand up for him. How 'bout standing up for those little kids, and their parents and siblings? Put that sob under the prison.

I was thinking of a 70-something woman, whose life has been dedicated to faith and service, crossing paths with this animal. I doubt if she'd been wearing a habit it would have made a lick of difference. The update in the Pittsburgh paper: she's 85 and he dislocated her jaw! The incident began when she offered to help him.

Here's a question for the deniers out there: If the Chinese moon rover travels to one of the Apollo moon landing sites, does that make them both hoaxes?

If the Chinese rover makes it to an Apollo site, then I will definitely declare it a hoax, considering that it landed at least 1000 miles away. :)
