Carrying on from the nanny state of Manitoba. :rolleyes:

WINNIPEG -- After sending her children to daycare with a lunch of roast beef, carrots and potatoes, Kristen Bartkiw was fed a $10 fine.

The reason: An unbalanced meal.

Despite the presence of a meat, vegetable, fruits and juice, the meal was missing a grain. The solution was to give the Rossburn, Man., school teacher a $10 fine and give her children Ritz Crackers as a supplement.

I went back to my grade school in Toronto yesterday. The principal was giving me a tour and I told her about our dads building two rinks in the field behind the school, flooding the ice every night and keeping them clear.

She was wide-eyed and said that could never happen today.

Brad Park (lived around the corner from me) and Teeder Kennedy skated on those frozen ponds. Those were the days. :D

How can you admit such savagery? Back in the olden days, every kid had cap pistols and we pointed them at one another. The highly coveted Stallions were the sine qua non of the era. We burned leaves in the streets. And had a bonfire every Halloween at my grade school. It's a wonder none of us wound up on top of a tower somewhere shooting pedestrians.

Yeah. You want to see "brutal" cops in action rerun the video Chicago cops beating the snot out of hippies in front of the Conrad Hilton hotel in '68. That was brutal. This was just some officers putting a hitch in their getalong. What the h*ll were they protesting, anyway? Keeping competing groups separate is not only not a violation of the First Amendment, it's a good way for peace officers to keep the peace. That's why, for instance, when Klan morons march somewhere, they're protected by the cops. In many instances, I'm sure the cops would rather leave the Klan Klowns to the tender mercies of the opposition.

BTW, that looping the video trick is as old as the hills. They looped the video of Hitler celebrating the French surrender to make it look like he was doing a "jig." Silly. Obvious.

And the truly sad thing about that case, apart from the attempted legal lynching of those innocent boys, is that none of the usual suspects in the lynch mob learned a thing. The "pot banging" faculty members at Duke are still ready to roll on short notice. The only person of any significance who stood up for the boys' basic rights was Coach K.

The protest was attempting to silence anyone who protested the government during the 50th anniversary remembrance, giving 75 feet rules and what not. I believe the site used the term "Tienanmen Square" a few times.
