Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Lynch mob mentality...I am sure to this day they cant live it down.

That's probably true for some of 'em. But for others, who believe in intergenerational, international "Satanist" conspiracies of the type portrayed in Rosemary's Baby, the absence of evidence is proof. I recall a Geraldo segment where he interviewed a McMartin "survivor." Handsome socal kid, about 17, who sincerely told stories of his sexual abuse at McMartin. Later, Village Voice did a wonderful piece on the phenomenon and mentioned that this kid was never called to testify. Why? Because he also "remembered" flights in black airplanes, ritual murders of children, blood soaked ceremonies and the rest of the catalogue of hysterical nonsense. Prosecutors didn't want him on the stand retelling his stories of being sexually abused in a church and the rest of the incredible horrors. Village Voice pointed out that as these cases developed, the stories told by the "victims" inevitably became more bizarre and less believable. But elected prosecutors believed. As did numbskull "journalists," and ignorant citizens. Nobody wanted to be seen as being "soft" on child sexual abuse, no matter how ridiculous the charges were. Salem all over again.

Dorothy Rabinowitz of the WSJ earned a Pulitzer for her writing on some of these cases: Fells Acres and Wenatchee, WA. But the true believers still believe.

I guess that contract with the university means more to them than some temporary inconvenience to passengers. I recall a Southwest cluster bleep when a Houston bound plane touched down in Dallas. And all of the ticketed, Houston bound passengers were made to deplane, to be replaced by different Houston bound passengers. Naturally, the people who got bumped weren't pleased. Things got heated. And threats of arrest were made. The one problem for Southwest, the passengers they were forcing off the plane and threatening to arrest were state district court judges and their wives. Oops.

The late Dennis Wolfberg used to refer to the successful "state wide IQ reduction program" in Alabama.

One of the funniest men that very few heard of. A most unusual delivery style-but for those who have never seen him-please find the YouTube clip of his HBO special and his description of his visit to a doctor for a colonoscopy. Gone at a young age from an incredibly severe skin cancer. RIP Dennis

Actually, yea, a private charter is a higher priority in this case... Delta probably made way more money on the charter than on the regular travelers... It's a simple business move...

Yep, more likely to happen with the air lines always trying to keep birds in the air as much as possible, leaving very little in reserve capacity for when a bird needs to be grounded for repairs.

Child "advocates" rip NORAD's Santa tracking.

Funny...I don't recall losing any sleep when RCAF planes tracked the jolly old soul back in my childhood days.

In addition to Santa's traditional sleigh and reindeer, NORAD has added an animated fighter plane escort to give a realistic feel to the popular program, a command spokesman told Reuters.

"We wanted to let folks know that, hey, this is a NORAD video, and we're the military and this is our mission," Navy Captain Jeff Davis said.

Allen Kanner, a California child and family psychologist and co-founder of the Boston-based Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood, told The Boston Globe the Pentagon is "completely out of line" for linking Christmas with the military.

“Children associate Santa with gifts and fun and everything else that is positive about Christmas,” Kanner told the newspaper. “They are associating this with the military in children’s minds."

Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Yeah, I mean, it's not like NORAD would otherwise be associated with the military... Sheesh.
Of course not...it was strictly commissioned to track Santa one day a year....

I would also wager that 10 kids out of 10 will still associate Christmas with presents and fun even with this addition.

This guy is as full of crap as a Christmas goose. But he and his microscopic group of fuss budgets has gotten millions in free publicity, thanks to the media. . .and us.

BTW, I read just the other day that NORAD's tradition began by accident, after their 'phone number was accidentally printed in a local paper. They went along with it the first year then began the annual tradition.

I didn't have a problem with what he said. I didn't really have a problem with what Palin said either.

Quelle surprise. I'd imagine you'd respond differently if somebody suggesting sh*tting in Moochelle's mouth. However, it really doesn't matter what fails to meet your non existent standards. What Palin said and what Bashir said are two entirely different matters. And attempting to create false equivalency doesn't cut it. If you truly can't see the difference, it confirms all of my biases against libtards.

Apparently the poobahs at MSNBC agree with you. IMO neither Baldwin nor Bashir should have been fired. But what Bashir did was far worse, given that it occurred on MSNBC's air and was premeditated. Both should have been set down, accompanied by a strong statement from the network that there are limits. Sadly, when it comes to Palin, there evidently aren't any. But when it comes to the GLBT "community," no pander is excessive.

Good news: scientists may have come up with a practical way to stop high speed chases (presumably low speed chases, too. Would have stopped O.J. in his tracks) and maybe even terrorists.

Holy crap. The EMP weapon from Need for Speed/Midnight Club in real life.

Only flaw I'd see is the target would lose power steering/power brakes. Not the safest thing in the world to have happen in traffic.

I assume there will be some fine tuning in development. And some carefully worked out protocols for use. Actually, I've always thought an RPG would be a cheaper, equally effective method. But this will do.
