Let your imagination run with this one: "Dr." Hasan forcibly shaved on death row. He'll never be executed, but at least he won't be wearing that g.d. beard. I flashed on the two guys Robert Ryan called on to administer a field shave in Dirty Dozen.

Awesome. Now they should serve him porkchops and ham sandwiches for the next 20 years.

No, ham sandwiches - he could take off the ham and eat the rest. Serve him ham steaks with a side of bacon.

He'll probably try to starve himself for the Islamist cause. While I don't think it's worth the effort and cost to force-feed him, we shouldn't be encouraging him to try and go out on his own terms.

Let him starve himself out, then never publicize his death. We should never hear about him again from the Army. If no one hears about him or his death, he won't be a martyr for those sick, goat ****ing, degenerates.

I think they should give him a beard of pig ball hair sorta like they did in Jack-a-s-s.

Re: Nice Planet 5: Insert Catchy Title Here

Can someone explain why "Dr." Hasan was allowed to wear his beard during trial? He was a field grade officer of the United States Army. As such, he was required to meet Army grooming standards. Yet the first judge in his court martial was dismissed, primarily because he insisted that Hasan shave his beard. Was it political correctness? Public relations? Now that he's a condemned killer, having lost his pay and benefits, he is required to shave. Does that make any sense? How can we expect to maintain good order and discipline if every accused punk Islamist murderer is allowed to set, or at least flout, the standards?

The United States military is all volunteer. And prospective soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are required to swear an oath that they will obey the orders of the officers appointed over them. And if a G.I.'s religious convictions prohibit him from following orders or adhering to regulations, then he shouldn't swear that oath. And subsequent to swearing in, if he decides his religious convictions won't permit him to obey those orders or adhere to those regulations (especially if he's an officer) then he should immediately seek to separate himself from the service. It's just that simple.

The first judge was removed because he was told that he overstepped his authority, and that it was the job of Hasan's superiors to ensure he followed protocol. The second judge decided that he could wear the beard, but warned him that the panel could hold it against him if he chose to do so.

I would think the panel would be more concerned with the people he shot than whether he shaved or not...

That's a given. I think OP's problem is the military basically accommodating an avowed Islamist by making a temporary exception to the rules so that he could make a spectacle of his "martyrdom" in court. Seems to me that considering the toughest punishment probably would involve another court-martial for some kind of insubordination charge, I think it's a trivial manner in the grand scheme of things. The "good doctor" most likely won't be seen or heard from again, and we're all glad for it.

Every soldier must adhere to Army grooming standards. Period. Just as every soldier must obey orders. If "Dr." Hasan's superiors were responsible for seeing to it he followed the regs, why didn't they (for months)? Having sentenced him to death, are we now going to have an Article 15 hearing for violating the grooming standards? That's absurd.

Pusillanimous political correctness is no excuse. The United States Army shouldn't give a sh*t what camel jockeys, planning even more murders of innocent Americans, think about anything. And a judge presiding at a general court martial certainly has the authority to require military personnel in his courtroom to follow the regs. Using the logic that he "overstepped his authority," would require that judge to allow an out of uniform military member to testify or otherwise participate in the trial. And that wouldn't happen. Except, apparently, in the case of a ruthless Islamist mass murderer. Nope, this is the United States Army sucking up to Muslims (particularly the ones in uniform), assuring them "we respect your faith." Bollocks!
