Re: Nice Planet 5: Insert Catchy Title Here

Remember the neighbor who wrote that nasty letter to the autistic kid's family saying he was too loud?

Well, said kid's been made an honorary member of the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers and they just held a 200-bike rally in front of his house to celebrate. Is that loud enough for ya?

That anonymous jacka*s still needs to be outed, stat. This person should be subjected to just as much public shame as that b*tch and her daughter in Missouri who drove that 13 year-old girl to suicide with a fake MySpace account.

I disagree on the outing. The woman who wrote that knows she's in the wrong and likely feels the outrage of the nation already. What good does making a public spectacle of that woman (and likely what her children and husband will bear)? Let the story fade and the family with the autistic child can live in peace now.

Re: Nice Planet 5: Insert Catchy Title Here

I applaud the gesture, but the irony is that many children with autism are very sensitive to sudden or loud noises. Hopefully they asked the parents first and the child could tolerate it.

If whoever wrote it "knew they were in the wrong", it didn't exactly stop them from writing that garbage in the first place, did it? And yes, I'm not assuming it was a woman - it would've been easy to fake it in that diatribe.

I'll admit that I'm a bit sensitive when it comes to the developmentally disabled - my dad runs group homes, and back in the early 80s during Michigan's deinstitutionalization period, he fought the rural, prejudiced neighbors in court over the first two homes he opened. So as a kid, I spent time around the clients, particularly at holiday parties. They're not violent; depending on what conditions they were born with, some are semi-sociable and can work a steady job (granted, mostly menial labor, but still).

I have a niece who lives in a home currently. I just think she does better without the attention of too many people at one time, and from my limited exposure, so do the other children in her similar situation. So for the sake of the child, I'd want that neighborhood to have the attention fade from it quickly. The woman (or man, I suppose) who wrote that letter never would have expected this reaction. It's easy to be craven and write that letter to upset and hurt a single family. It's something altogether more for that craven person to realize that s/he brought about the ire of a sizable chunk of the nation, too. Either that person will shut up because a realization of what's truly happened will set in, or that person will move with the realization that her/his efforts have failed and the desire to avoid a reminder of that failure.

Seems like it's about average or a little below. Through June 30, 1,000 shootings, 200 deaths.

It seemed like the numbers might have been a bit below average. Wonder if they are going into a slump?

Second thug punk arrested in "Shorty" Belton's murder. Ponder for a moment what went through the minds of these urban animals when the two of 'em decided they had to take flashlights to the head of an 88-year old, barely over 5 feet tall--for his wallet. RIP "Shorty," you risked your life when your country called. No one deserves to be beaten to death this way, least of all you.

Wrong-I can immediately think of two who should suffer the same fate.
