Re: Nice Planet 2010

And ALL guns are ALWAYS loaded (assumed to be) and kept pointed in a safe direction at all times.

That is supposed to be the rule. This guy evidently threw the rulebook out. If I were him and I had done that to my daughter I don't think I could live with myself.

Re: Nice Planet 2010

Except this was a father and a child. It should never happen when the adult is handling the gun. (of course it should never happen when a child is handling a gun either, because the child shouldn't be handling the gun unless they're old enough to understand the consequences)

I'm not sure the word "child" is accurately used in the same sentence with "old enough to understand the consequences." I wasn't disagreeing with you, just passing along the comments of a Houston surgeon who had a number of young gunshot victims as patients. If a young person does "understand the consequences," then he likely wouldn't be handling a gun in the way I described. Perhaps we should back up a step and put the responsibility where it belongs, on the gun owner. It's sad but true that many Americans are fully versed in what their rights are. But somewhat less informed about their responsibilities.

Agreed. We had an incident in Omaha several years ago that wound up with a child dead. Some middle school kids stopped at a friend's house on the way home from school. Somebody had left a loaded .45 on top of the refrigerator. And. . .

The earth just shuddered to a stop. I totally agree with you.... :p

Re: Nice Planet 2010

Just a few days ago we saw the vid of a TSA arsehole groping a six year old girl. Now we learn a TSA employee in Philadelphia is a pedophile. But don't worry, last year his union lawyer managed to save his job. Think about this piece of sh*t fondling your wife, girl friend or daughter. And think how lucky we are they're harder to fire, now that they're unionized. Oh, and still no terrorist plots uncovered or stopped. Another PC triumph.

Not defending this d-bag, but the article does say his job was in jeopardy for an unrelated issue. Now, if he does't lose his job THIS time....people should be ****ed.

Yeah, and his UNION LAWYER saved his job (presumably so he could go on to bigger and better things). I was merely pointing out the benefits of unionization. I guess I jumped to the conclusion that if he didn't have a UNION LAWYER he would have been canned then.

Re: Nice Planet 2010

So Gloria Allred is the lawyer for the family offended by homophobic remarks made by a Giants' coach. No doubt just a coincidence. Anyway, the claim is the little girls were traumatized by the remarks, which Allred repeats, verbatim, right in front of the girls! Why isn't Allred suing Allred? Check out the look on the little girl on the left when Allred says "rear end." She seems amused, not traumatized. And the demonstration with the bat is too funny to describe. Again, right in front of the girls. The list of people to whom the coach should apologize reminds me of the scene in Patton where Ike makes him apologize for slapping Tim Considine.
