They can preach on the grounds, but cannot force people to listen, if I am not mistaken.

I am with you, though, as soon as they start preaching, I'm leaving the area.

Students dont have free speech...nice try though. (trust me I am a teacher and so is my GF)

I am sure though you would have zero problem with an students "free speaking" and proselytizing Islam right? Or if they were making sure every student knew how and where to get birth control and abortions right? Hey I bet if the Atheist Club decided to have a big march down the halls ripping up Bibles and screaming "God is Dead" you would be 100% behind that right?

Student's rights are restricted because they are not adults and because they are in the public square. Teachers and Principals act "En Loco Parentis" for a reason. That is why they dont need a warrant to search a locker on school grounds.

Offensive is not illegal. Academic institutions should respect diversity of thought.

If Betty gets up in the lunchroom and starts praying for the conversion of sinners or starts playing "Hot Lunch" from Fame!, as long as there isn't a riot, more power to her.

If Billy starts a civil discussion of abstinence v safe sex in sex ed, and brings up the Bible, ok?

If Talib gets up in the parking lot before school and, citing the Koran, condemns homsexuality, he's ok as long as there isn't a riot.

Your third case depends on where they're getting the Bobles. Ripping them from students hands or lockers would be assault. Purchasing the Bibles and the destroying them would be legal.

However, if they tried that with the Koran, there would be a riot and they would forced into a public shaming or worse.

And for the record, I’ve never seen or heard of anyone ripping bibles from students’ hands.

I have heard of far too many people putting up the Ten Commandments in a classroom or doing something incredibly stupid like teach abstinence only because baby Jesus would cry if teenagers touched each other.

You go ahead and run a school that way. You wont make it out of Day 2 before you are shut down. Hell try subbing one day and doing that and see how it works out for you.

Seriously, I am not trying to be mean...but you might do best to just not speak on this subject. The amount of wrong you are is off the charts. Hell just your thesis about "diversity of thoughts" is way off base because no one is saying that they cant pray (that is an individual right that is protected) they cant disrupt others though. (preaching or singing the song) What you are talking about is no rules and no order which sounds great unless you have actually ever been in a school.

(I am going to choose to ignore your blatant "All Christians Are Oppressed" BS because I dont want to be mean. I am just assuming you are trolling because if you actually think that your opinion has no validity on any subject ever.)

Kids dont have complete freedom. They arent supposed to have complete freedom. It would be utter chaos if they had complete freedom. They are in school to be educated so when they are adults they become responsible citizens with the freedoms they have.

They havent, I made that up. I was trying to prove a point to him and in his attempt to try and continue to make his case he made himself look somehow even farther off the mark.
