Nice Planet 13: This Planet Sucks

Re: Nice Planet 13: This Planet Sucks

They say a woman being attacked is her fault. Take a wild guess at who claims this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnfT5apRIjA

I love how, within about 30 seconds, it turned into a random WAR ON CHRISTMAS!!11!!! poutrage of the day.

What is with them citing a hardcopy print-out of a Breitbart article? Why not just link to Breitbart? Also, any chance of them actually citing a picture of that Tweet?

So, not being as intellectually lazy as an Alex Jones ball-licker recording a YouTube video op-ed, I looked up "Aras Bacho". Turns out, the original Tweet was in German, and the Google Translate rough translation would seem to indicate that he's saying, "Women shouldn't be out alone at night, but refugees also need to behave themselves". That said, the kid does have a history of controversial articles and statements, assuming the usual right-wing websites are at least citing his articles and quoting him correctly before churning out the usual anti-immigrant nonsense.

Re: Nice Planet 13: This Planet Sucks

Former MSU/USA doctor Nassar had 37,000 child pornography photos.

I always wonder about numbers like that. I suspect what that means is the guy connected to a porn server and surfed. As for "child porn," who the hell knows? Firstly, 17 could be "child" and I'm sure 90% of porn models lie about their age. Secondly, it could just be completely made up, like when Asange was suddenly convicted in absentia of "rape" when he started leaking stuff the USG didn't like.

My BS detector goes off the scale when "pedophile" or "child porn" gets trumpeted. It's the witch du jour. I'm sure it happens -- there are, after all, witches. But I strongly suspect for each admittedly horrible case there are 999 that are completely invented to stoke parents' worst fears and hence their greatest chance of reacting emotionally. See also: demons, Communists, anarchists, etc...

What is the point of this post? 50 people have come forward since the summer, allegations coming from those who said they were as young as six when the assault occurred.

Photos of children under 12 were found on his computer. There are videos of himself assaulting girls in a pool. I suppose he's an equal opportunity sexual assault since he also has college athletes coming forward with allegations, but to say they're just putting pedophile on there for shock value makes no sense.

Maybe the guy is a Democrat so Kep can't impugn all conservatives this time.

This is a really weird post, coming from you. It reads like the MRA nonsense one finds over at 4chan and r/redpill. Kind of disturbing, actually.

I am aware of that, but I risked it. As I tried to say, I am sure there are legitimate cases and I am just as morally outraged and repelled by them as a church lady in Iowa. But. I also believe that social history is in large part the history of TERRIBLE THREATS that are used to instill fear and create scapegoats. And this just has all the markings of one.

The very fact that the actual underlying activity is terrible and so viscerally disgusting and terrifying is what makes it so effective as a fear tactic and so likely to be abused: extended to cases which are not remotely like that activity, or just invented whole cloth as slander to delegitimize any response.

But the thing that got my spidey nonsense senses tingling was the number: 30k images. It reminded me so much of cops in the 70s when they captured caches of drugs and released public statements like "this is worth 2 billion dollars on the street," which were complete bull**** and based on a calculation where if you say cut the drug with 99% sawdust and that sold it at the highest price anybody had ever heard about as gossip and then multiplied that by 3 because hey inflation.

I'm not talking about this case. I'm talking about the general charge. When I hear it thrown around my initial instinct is skepticism. That changes when there is evidence such as in this case which convinces me that the guy is guilty.

The anger and fear generated by even the discussion of the possibility that sometimes this charge is used as a screen is, well, kinda my whole point.
