Re: NHL Playoffs 2013 - Walruses, Trolls and other assorted creatures.

I am no wild expert, but I am under the impression they have a decent stock of talent coming up. Given that they made the playoffs this year and have a ton of guys who are going to only get better, I suspect they will be more of a contender in years to come - unlike older teams like vancouver which are clearly on the decline.

Does minnesota have any goaltending prospects in the pipeline?
Johan Gustafsson is the goalie of the future. He should be coming over from Sweden next season. he was Sweden's goalie for the world juniors in 10-11 and 11-12, and he is supposed to be pretty **** good.

The Wild do have a ton of young talent waiting in the wings, and they are only going to get better.

Ahem. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/boxscore?gid=2013050718 ;)

Tweeted Buccigross asking if there was a chance to get a shirt for picking both tonight. We'll see. I'm gonna win one, dammit!

edit: doah. Picked Thornton on twittah. hp1015 goes to box and feels shame for the night.

My apologies on that. The updated standings have hp1015 now leading with 2. Joecct and myself have 1 each.

There is no doubt that the Wild are getting beaten by a better team. But to claim the Hawks don't pick like everyone else in the league is beyond silliness too. I admit they do it in their d-zone much more than in the neutral zone, but they do get away with a lot of them.

Okay, I'm about done with this peeing match, but I said:

To try and claim that the Hawks are interfering more than the Wild after watching this cluster **** through the neutral zone is a complete joke.

If anything, both teams are interfering at will. Watch the Wild players stepping in front of the forecheckers who are coming with speed and then tell me that only the Hawks are doing something illegal.

The refs are letting a lot go both ways. Fine by me although it definitely hurts the Hawks more than the Wild.

I never claimed that the Hawks were angels or that they weren't deserving of penalties.

I just took issue to someone saying that they were doing more than the Wild. Trust me, the Hawks want a wide open game if given the choice and I'm pretty darn sure that the Wild prefer a mucky game (at least against the Hawks) if given the choice.

The way that the games are being (not) called benefits the Wild. Plain and simple.

Luckily, once they got a 2 goal lead, the Hawks proved that they can play shut down defense when it's called for.

Conspiracy theories abound on Vancouver radio.

Beautiful.

Next up on the first tee is the Alain Vigneault foursome. The Vigneault foursome. Please play away.

Sorry, I believe that this group is up first...

It's comments like this that make having an outdoor game scheduled next year in LA so grand while "traditional" markets get none.

None? I thought the other locations were traditional markets.

I was talking about Colorado and MN fans being upset that CA gets an outdoor game first. Comment sections for WC articles make my happy places tickle with joy because of all the butt hurt.

Pretty soon it's going to be Oprah like with "You get an outdoor game. You get an outdoor game. You all get outdoor games."

I don't care that LA has an outdoor game, I just think it is really ****ing stupid to have 5 of them, or however many of them they are planning, in one year. There are too many outdoor games as it is.

Typically, it's only the prostate that gets tickled by butt hurt.

Awesome story

OTTAWA — Last week, Keila Penner was told to remove her Ottawa Senators jersey when she went to her Montreal-area school.

On Tuesday night, the 11-year-old hockey fan watched her team from Senators’ owner Eugene Melnyk’s personal suite as Ottawa hosted the Montreal Canadiens in Game 4 of their first-round NHL playoff series.

Keila’s father, Cary, grew up in Ottawa and is a die-hard Sens fan. Keila grew up as one too, even though the family now lives in Lachine. The Senators brought Keila and her family from Lachine by limo for the game and presented her with a new jersey — autographed by the whole team — to wear during Game 4.

Keila was told she couldn’t wear her Sens jersey at school because it was Habs Jersey Day. “The school made a rule it was going to be only Habs jerseys (that) day, or the school uniform,” Cary Penner told Ottawa radio station 1310News. “My daughter just wanted to go in her (Senators) jersey, and I supported her 100 per cent.”

Keila says she was thrilled by the offer to watch the game from Melnyk’s personal suite at Scotiabank Place. “I think that’s amazing,” Keila said. “I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say.”
