I don't understand why the TV announcers keep saying someone scored a SHG for Detroit who is just an abdicator.:D

There's a reason why the US, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Russia, and Slovakia are called "The Big Seven".

(Ok it's the Big Six but Slovakia is at the point that they're on the level of the others).

While I usually don't root for a certain opponent (sometimes you're sorry that you got what you wanted), I am glad it's the Wings for several reasons:

- It's fitting that these two should meet one last time before the Wings head east. Too bad it's not the WCF.

- The Wings play a similar style as the Hawks which should make for entertaining up and down games. I'm hoping the Hawks depth is the difference that I expect it to be.

- I'm glad the Ducks are out as they did beat the Hawks twice although once in a SO and once with a late 3rd period goal on a silly turnover. I feel like the Hawks could have taken them in 7, but don't need to worry about it now. Always good to have the 2nd and 3rd seeds out after the first round.

- Also happy not to face the Sharks in this round as their physical style that they showed against the Nucks isn't the best match up.

- Finally, we (fans) got a midwest match up and a west match up. Perfect. Should be fun to watch the skillfest in the midwest and then watch the western teams try to beat each other into submission.
