I believe that regardless of what news reports, coaches tend to be "relieved of coaching duties" but the contract remains in effect (the paychecks continue) for the duration of the contract. Unless the contract has a buyout option or a buyout is negotiated the coach remains employed by the team to do just about nothing. This way if (when) they get a new job it reduces what the original team had to pay.

Of course it depends how the contract is written, but as long as you are getting paychecks, no matter for how long, you are still an employee of that team.

Shouldn't it be treated like a divorce? That salary is alimony. New marriage with another team means no more alimony.

pretty much. if old club paid me $1 million they're on the hook for it unless I make more from new club. IIRC old club is liable for the difference if new club pays me less than $1 million.

While I'd like to see Chicago win, having grown up there, my head tells me Bruins in six: they'll win one in Chicago somehow and hold serve at home.


PS regarding the scheduling, I don't think the NHL "wanted" Saturday games so much as they did not want Sunday games.

Most North Dakota fans are pretty torn on this one. Toews played for the Sioux, and most of Boston's roster wanted to go there but couldn't get scholarships.

I already hate that efn chelsea dagger song. I'm hoping for 2 straight shutouts to start the series (and i know that isn't going to happen, but still).

$375!? That's it? They are going for $450 in Boston for Game #3. Or you could buy a box for $30K. #Insanity
