NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Losing sucks. Someone has to do it, though. That's were I, Minnesota teams, and evidently the Penguins come in.

Don't forget me and my Buds. At least they went seven-plus against the Bruins. I'm going to go easy on my Pens-fan friends here in PA.

On an unrelated note, could Jack Edwards fall to an even deeper level of D-baggery?
 Even if he's not an "NBC play-by-play man."

Jack Edwards has made another far-fetched comparison between an NHLer and terrorism.

The NBC play-by-play man read a soliloquy on WEEI Boston Sports News radio Friday comparing the actions of Boston Bruins forward Gregory Campbell to those who came under fire during the pursuit of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects in April and Allied forces in the Second World War.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Nice to see Tuukka help the Pens celebrate National Donut Day yesterday :p

Now just need the Hawks to close the deal tonight...

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

It's Game Day. GO HAWKS!

What's with those stupid baggy socks, though? Don't shave their legs?

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

The pitchforks are already out in da 'Burgh.

Well, at least the Penguins did it their way.

Give 'em that much.

At least they showed the hockey world that their way was right. That all those changes and adjustments, all those strategic shifts and personnel switches, all that stuff was for losers.

Not for the mighty Penguins.

Not for the franchise that's now — say it with me — the NHL's four-time defending paper champion after getting swept out of the Eastern Conference final by slinking away silently to the Bruins, 1-0, Friday night at TD Garden.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

There something about a clinching home playoff game. Is it 8 yet? #FiredUp

Come on Hawks! EVERYONE outside of MN, MI, and around 20,000 people in LA want a Hawks-Bruins final. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Steve, jack edwards is not a d-bag...leave that status for someone like matt cooke. If you wanna say edwards often goes over the top? Completely agree. As a bruins fan, I'm not a big fan of edwards.

Now as for the penguins, why shouldn't people be mad about them getting swept?

Thanks for posting. Great stuff.

Does anyone agree with this comment: But citing simple stats, even this grotesque, is letting this group off easy. It doesn't sufficiently encompass all the talent wasted, all the investment from the money to the draft picks and prospects sent out, all the passion of hockey's most passionate American fan base.

Uh... No. "America's most passionate American fan base" doesn't leave a playoff game early in the 3rd. Just sayin'.

JD, I'm no Cooke fan, but Edwards comparing him to Sirhan Sirhan, along with his many other rants about the Royal Family, the Boston Tea Party, etc...etc... puts him in D-bag land to me. 2 1/4 million results from searching "Jack Edwards rant" seems to back my opinion, but YMMV.

I'm also not a Pens fan, but I understand fully that there will be calls for Bylsma's head.

Hey, as I posted -- at least my guys took the B's to 7-plus games. Still leaves a bitter taste though! ;)

That caught my eye, too. I've been to enough Pens games to say I'm not sure where that came from.

Don't forget Lake Gitchigoomee.

I guess it's a matter of your definition of D-bag, but he certainly is eye-roll "did he really say that?" material, and he grates on my nerves at times. One thing I'll give him is that he's a hockey fan. He used to be criticized for getting too excited when the other team made a good play.

I'm also not a Pens fan, but I understand fully that there will be calls for Bylsma's head.
He's certainly not a guy like Tortorella, who you almost enjoy seeing fired, but my thought was that if you play like the Pens did in game one, you might win in the regular season, but you'll lose in the playoffs. And if you play like the Pens did in game two, you'll lose any time. The fact that the Pens had two games like this is mostly on the coach (just like Julien has to take responsibility for game 5 against Toronto, but that was with a 3-1 lead). One of the most enjoyable between periods shots for me was one of Doug Houda (Boston assistant coach) chewing out Brad Marchand in the tunnel for taking a stupid penalty. Don't know for sure, but I doubt that sort of thing happens often on the Pens.

Hard to quantify what the most passionate fan base in the US is.

bylsma is known as a players coach.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Because I want to see thep layoffs last as long as possible, I'm rooting for the L.A. Kings tonight. Nothing against the Chicagos. I just want to see more hockey.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Why is everyone's screen names in italics? Or is that just on my computer?

Topic - um.....I hope it's a great game tonight for hockey on national broadcast TV's sake. So if LA wins tonight, game 6 would be Monday? And if that happens and it ends, Cup final begins when? Wednesday? Or Saturday?

If Chicago wins tonight, Game 1 is Wednesday night in Chicago. If LA wins tonight, Game 1 is Saturday night in Chicago or Boston.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Quick and The Kings are a mess right now.

I'm seeing all italics too.
