NHL 2018: When the AI GM is smarter than actual GMs...

Re: NHL 2018: When the AI GM is smarter than actual GMs...

@rwesthead: Perhaps one reason (among many) why some players wind up with substance abuse problems.

"... team trainers would walk the aisle of the team charter plane and hand out Ambien, a sleep aid, as well as Percocet and Vicodin, both opioid painkillers that are highly addictive." https://twitter.com/TSNHockey/status/1009851287624613889

Urge to cream my jeans rising.

JT, please. Please. PLEASE.
I feel like he'd almost be dumb to stay there, that org has already wasted the entirety of his prime.

That's part of why the whole story with Mike Richards getting caught at the border with opiates (and the Kings voiding his contract over it) was so shady, these teams hand the stuff out like it's candy.

Sharks waive to buyout Paul Martin, now have $19-20 million in cap space.

Honestly I'd rather see the Isles be relevant, even as a fan of a team in the division. All these moves are clearly being done to keep him around but a lot of it should've been done much sooner.

We have a trade:
WSH sends Brooks Orpik and Philip Grubauer to COL in exchange for a 2018 2nd round pick (#47 overall).

Salary dump.

Re: NHL 2018: When the AI GM is smarter than actual GMs...

3:00 in between picks? They don't play around there, do they?

Re: NHL 2018: When the AI GM is smarter than actual GMs...

For the Wings, not even one defenseman in their two first round picks? Oy.

On one hand, confidence. On the other, arrogance?

Of course, the Detroit/Michigan media is all over the, "Did we STEAL Zadina? Oh yassss we diiiiiid!!!!" story.

I'll say he's already got pretty good size for his height though, at 6'0" 192 lb.

Sounds like Hanifin and Lindholm to the Flames; Hamilton, Ferland and Fox to the 'Canes.

I'm upset the Wings picked him. Yes, he was one of the "best" ranked kids to fall to the Wings at sixth, but holy eff is his attitude writing checks he can't cash yet. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

Plus with these QMJ guys, it's a crapshoot as to how much you can believe their numbers.

I think Kenny's starting to sweat a bit, and is throwing darts.
