That it hasn’t been in Minnesota at least once is 🤷*♂️🤷*♂️🤷*♂️

It’s like the emoji aren’t on the standard html list. Whatever. The intent is clear.

Bettman: Montreal lacked outdoor venue for 100th anniversary game

1. Why not just have it indoors at Olympic Stadium anyway? It's not like the NHL began play outdoors, the first official outdoor game wasn't until 2003.

2. That's some BS reasoning about Quebec. Since 1980 there have been moves from Atlanta, Colorado, Minnesota, Quebec, Winnipeg, Harford, and Atlanta again.

Meanwhile, teams have gone back to Atlanta, Colorado, Minnesota, and Winnipeg. Obviously it can't be that difficult to get a team back.

6-0 Leafs over Habs. Sixth win in a row on the night where the Original Six teams were honored at the Bell Centre. 2 goals from Auston in his return from injury. :)

Goalie goals are the best goals.

:p:D:D

I know the feeling. When I was a soccer goalie, we were beating a team about 6-0 at half, and my coach asked me if I wanted to play a different position for fun. Our striker and I switched positions, and with about 2-3 minutes left in the game, I connected on a beauty and scored. I decided to do the airplane landing on my way to the corner flag. The ref didn't care too much for it, and I got a yellow card and a stern lecture. But...it was worth it.

Why don't they just call it the Blackhawks Winter Classic? They've ruined this by doing multiple games and not moving it around more. It's done. I don't like hockey outside anymore unless it's the kids on a real pond.

I think I remember driving through western Ontario in my youth and seeing a sign on a lake west of Kenora stating that a stanley cup game had been played on that pond.

Was I high? Possible.

Kenora Thistles - 1907 Cup Champions (as amateurs)

Kenora Thistles - 1907 Cup Champions (as amateurs)

Kenora (who are adorable) won the Cup in the big city of Montreal. There is a plaque commemorating them, but it is for the team, not a location.

One of the most fun teams to ever win the cup, along with:

Montreal Wanderers (the team they beat)
Seattle Metropolitans (the first American champion)
Montreal Shamrocks (as in, we're Irish, f-ck you, French)
Montreal Victorias (lots of teams named after that Queen)
Ottawa Silver Seven (it is a travesty the reboot team is not the Silver Six)
Toronto St. Pats

honorable mention:

Portland Rosebuds (lost the finals, but the first American Cup challenger)

If Seattle and Portland ever join the NHL, (which if either does they should do together), I hope it will be as the Metropolitans and the Rosebuds. For that matter the Canucks, always a horrid name, should be renamed the Billionaires.

But not this tweet:

@jonathonj1970: Fun Fact: The history of the @NHL, founded 100 years ago today, can be tracked through five players.

Jaromir Jagr played against Guy Lafleur, who played against Gordie Howe, who played against Dit Clapper, who played with/against Cy Denneny, who played on opening night. #NHL100 https://twitter.com/jonathonj1970/status/934852085849448448/photo/1

I've seen 3 of those players. Christ, I'm old.
