Kenora Thistles - 1907 Cup Champions (as amateurs)
Kenora (who are adorable) won the Cup in the big city of Montreal. There is a plaque commemorating them, but it is for the team, not a location.

One of the most fun teams to ever win the cup, along with:
Montreal Wanderers (the team they beat)
Seattle Metropolitans (the first American champion)
Montreal Shamrocks (as in, we're Irish, f-ck you, French)
Montreal Victorias (lots of teams named after that Queen)
Ottawa Silver Seven (it is a travesty the reboot team is not the Silver Six)
Toronto St. Pats
honorable mention:
Portland Rosebuds (lost the finals, but the first American Cup challenger)
If Seattle and Portland ever join the NHL, (which if either does they should do together), I hope it will be as the Metropolitans and the Rosebuds. For that matter the Canucks, always a horrid name, should be renamed the Billionaires.
