NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

Vegas is now 7-1. Let them have their moment.

I decided to go back and look at what the Wild did through their first eight during their inaugural season in 2000-2001.

1-5-2.

This of course was back when you got NOTHING when you started out. All the way back to 17 years ago. Also, there were ties. Weird.

I looked back at the Wild and Blue Jackets expansion draft from 2000, and woof, it's bad. Rules appear to be similar for the selection/protection; has the talent pool become that much deeper than it was in 2000?

You got nothing because you didn't pay the Billions Vegas did to get a franchise. You got one on the cheap.

So NBCSN had a choice last night to televise EDM @ PIT or DET @ BUD.

Guess which one they picked?

Vegas looked good last night.

Thoroughly outplayed the Hawks.

I thought the available pool was much more expansive this time around and/or the pool was available to only 1 team not 2.

Nashville and Atlanta had their entire roster protected (had only been teams for a year). The other teams could protect 1 goalie, 5 dmen, and 9 forwards, or 2 goalies, 3 dmen, and 7 forwards.

The Wings/Lightning game has been fine for me.

*edit* I did jump into it late, so maybe I missed the outage.

Sigh... Wings lose 3-2, now 1-12-1 in the last 14 against Tampa. Haven't won since beating Vegas.
