NHL 2016.1 -- Anyone have a Laine on a new Auston?

Re: NHL 2016.1 -- Anyone have a Laine on a new Auston?

I'm still a free agent fan after the North Stars left. I just haven't really found a team I fully enjoy watching.

Well, neither did Brent. There's no way anyone actually fully enjoyed watching that boring *** 90's-2000's Devils hockey.

I ignore the Islanders for 3 weeks and they go from dead last to 2 points out of the playoffs.

I have found the secret.

Given that I know jack squat about the Eastern Conference, is this good or bad?

Claude Julien just got fired from the Bruins, I think. IIRC, the Bruins have gone on to win a bunch of games after the change.

Re: NHL 2016.1 -- Anyone have a Laine on a new Auston?

When the North Stars left I refused to 'adopt' another NHL team. I simply couldn't understand getting emotionally vested in anything else given what the North Stars meant. Since I had already been a Gophers fan since I can remember existing it helped lessen the sting a bit.

I have since slowly grown on the Wild because they're the hometown team and I could attend games when I still lived in MN. But they'll never hold the same pull the North Stars did because they too were a team I fell in love with at a very young age.

If the Vikings/Twins left you could bet your *** I would not adopt another NFL/MLB team and I find the concept patently absurd. Especially when someone goes "front-runner" with the bit. Even if I someday migrated to another major metro area I would not find myself more than a fringe fan that paid attention and probably attended games - especially the NHL.

To each their own of course.

I am. 25 years and 4 Cups is pretty #$(*%(* good. Bruins went on for 29 years with two Cups very early on, and the Blackhawks did 28 years with squat.

I would've liked to have pushed past the also Cup-less Blues, but thems the breaks.

WOAH! Woah! Woah, woah, woah. You've stated for a long time here, that your boy was Zelepukin.
Zelepukin is/was awesome, and I was a big fan. Yes, still have a lettered jersey of his. One of my first lettereds, actually. Doesn't mean I couldn't give some lovin' to Marty, too.

As for Tech, it was the atmosphere that the fans brought, both to the game itself and their welcoming of opposing fans. Some teams aren't so welcoming, even after the game is done.

Side note, and this will probably make for some good fodder: I also have an old school Daneyko Devils jersey, white w/green and red. :D

And when you start to pay attention to them again, look what happens. 7-1 pasting by the Leafs.

But I didn't! I didn't, I swear!

BTW, Cornell record this year:

With me in attendance: 1-3-0
Me not in attendance: 15-3-3

Mike should pay me to stay away.

I'd have preferred 10, but am alright (on the lower limit) of 6.

I think he got off light. I'm also not surprised. In the end, I don't really give a crap because him getting a huge suspension doesn't help the Wild any. Spurgeon was lucky and only needed a few stitches, and is just fine. I'm going to concentrate on that.

Re: NHL 2016.1 -- Anyone have a Laine on a new Auston?

I expected a little more, but upon thinking about it, it is close to consistent with the past.

Keith got 6 games for a relatively similar incident (5 regular season + 1 playoff). While not a 'repeat offender' at the time, he did have a history with suspensions.

I agree they should have set a standard, and at some point they may have to, but it is pretty consistent.
