NHL 2015 - Trouble Bruin! Ranger Leaf jumped the King Shark! Just Ducky!

Why didn't Utica relocate?

Because Vancouver chickened out. Unless their lease is that good, I don't know why they didn't move. There is some talk that Colorado, Winnipeg, and Vancouver are next to move their affiliates.

Also hinted to in todays press conference, the Pacific teams will mostly be playing amongst themselves and will play a reduced schedule of games. The Eastern teams (read: everyone not in the pacific time zone) asked how fair that would be come playoffs. AHL already plays a reduced schedule of just 76 games. The Pacific teams are rumored to be wanting mid-60's.

Not any different from the ECHL. The Western teams only play each other (which is why I don't buy the Aces being able to stick around in the ECHL).

But they play an equal amount of games league wide. The AHL Masterbatory Division wants to play (up to 15) less games than the rest of the league.

I did see in the ADN article about the Aces that they already figured the math, and their travel costs don't change. Unless that is just smoke being blown.

I think it's smoke. I wouldn't be surprised to see other teams forcing them to foot the bill if they get lumped in with teams like Indy or Cincy. Unless the ECHL is under the delusion that they can expand out west.

Re: NHL 2015 - Trouble Bruin! Ranger Leaf jumped the King Shark! Just Ducky!

I think the big thing about the AHL stuff is that this is just the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more teams either added or moved up, like Utah and Colorado. The catch with all of this is that as markets move up, out west there's not much to replace them with. The PNW being shut out because of the WHL is the biggest factor. You take Ontario, Bakersfield, and Stockton out of the ECHL and replace them with what? Reno, who doesn't have a rink? Fresno, who already folded? Montana? Wyoming?

It's a great move for the NHL and the AHL no doubt, but I think the ECHL is in a bit of trouble.

Kessel SCORES!!!!
Faints

And Bernier gives up two of the ugliest goals ever. Hanzal now has two. Posted on the Sun chat:

Hanzal scored? Against this Leafs team even Gretel could score.

Any chance the West Division would eventually break off and form their own league? Maybe revive the IHL like it used to be?

Dammit. :(

Chicago Blackhawks legend Stan Mikita has been diagnosed with a form of dementia, his family has announced.

"Stan has been diagnosed with suspected Lewy Body dementia, a progressive disease and is currently under the care of compassionate and understanding care givers," his family said in a statement.

Tonight's Leafs - Predators game is an exercise in ugliness.

In other news, the Sabres beat the Habs (again) for their 1st win in about 5 weeks. Lol.

I kept waiting for that five minute burst of Chicago giving a hell and scoring four goals.

I don't understand.

Wild beat the 'Hawks 3-0 last night and Chicago never had that push that they always pull out when playing the Wild when their big guns get 3 or 4 quick ones.
