Leafs radio voice Joe Bowen, behind us in the Air Canada Centre press box, bellowed it best at the start of the second period: “If you joined us late, congratulations.”

Thing I did not realize until just now: Jaromir Jagr is four points away from tying Marcel Dionne for 5th-most all-time. That guy is pretty awesome.

And that's missing almost 5 seasons due to lockouts and going overseas for a few years. Crazy.

He's been playing in the NHL since three lockouts ago!

Not only that but he led his (to be fair, crappy) team in scoring last year and is leading them in scoring again this year.

Yep. He would almost definitely be #2 all time in points even if he had just not gone to the KHL for three seasons. He's 120 points back on Messier for #2 and he averaged 93 points per season in the three years before he left. He only needed to be half that good for three seasons to pass Messier. That said, if he'd played those three seasons, he might have killed my favorite piece of Gretzky trivia, having more assists (1,963) than anyone else has total points (1,883).

In any case, knowing Jagr, he'll play until he's 50 and pass Messier anyway.
