Wild just can't get any puck luck whatsoever, and Dubnyk was spectacularly average in this series. Spells disaster. The Wild are the Twins of the 2000's, Blackhawks are the Yankees. Pee down their legs when they see those jerseys.

I always enjoy seeing the Minnesota NHL team struggle like so. For all the arrogance exuded at other levels it is fun to see you guys suffer at the highest level. :)

Just got home and watching the 3rd.

Nice to see that Cooke hasn't changed as he tried to get Hammer's knee. What a pos.

Wow. What a crazy finish.

I had my phone on the bench tonight and was checking the score. Was in the locker room afterwards and saw 3-1 with a couple minutes to go. Great! Game over.

Checked again a few minutes later and it was 4-3 with 14 seconds to go.

Anyway...

Nice to see Wild fans stick around and salute their team.

Congrats to the 'Hawks. Hope they go on and win another cup. Then I hope any and all FAs decide they are worth zillions and they all disperse to other teams and kill the dynasty.

Apparently Thomas Vanek didn't think this "felt like a sweep". This despite the fact that his team held a lead for a grand total of zero seconds in the series.

Yeah, I have to agree.

If you've heard me rant about how much I despise the Blackhawks franchise, I have to say that I'm so **** impressed with the flawless execution and defending of this team that I just have to put my hate aside and just respect them.

Unlike some of the games against the Blues, I had a hard time being too critical of the Wild in this series. Outside of the lack of sniping pointed out earlier in this thread, I don't think there's much I could do to say that the Wild played poorly this last week. Chicago was just that **** good, particularly on defense.

All that being said the one team I want to lose is the Blackhawks and I'm done watching NHL hockey this season. Good luck to the rest of the squads.

Oh yeah, I still would be happier to see pretty much any other remaining team (other than probably the Ducks) win the Cup.

I'm just saying I can't hate them like I normally would, and I'd still watch their games to see if they can maintain the excellence I saw in the last week.

Yep.

Re: NHL 2015, Part II - Stanley Cup Playoff Race and Beyond

This Hawks team/run reminds me a lot of the Red Wings of the 90s and into the 2000s.

I'm one of the few Hawks fans that I know of that never really hated the Wings. Tons of respect for how good they were over such a long period of time.

No surprise that the Hawks mirror them in a lot of ways as Scotty Bowman is now on the Hawks' payroll and has been for this run.

Just wait till Q retires after his third Cup this year and we hire Babcock.

:D

There are a lot of vastly more important (to me) reasons that I want the Hawks to win the Cup this year, but this will be added to the list.

:D:p

Per the Detroit News, Mikd Babcock will "explore the marketplace".

Look out...

:D

So you can sit back and enjoy watching your team sh** the bed in the second around in back to back years only to then follow it up with a string of first round exits?

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you once WERE a Red Wings fan and this is all old hat to you. ;)

This... isn't surprising. I almost wonder if part of the circus caused their swoon late in the season. Coupled with Howard's injury in January that he never fully bounced back from. I fully expect Blashill to be the next Red Wings coach, but that discussion won't take place until (hopefully) June after the Calder Cup returns to Grand Rapids.

Goddammit I hate liking goaltenders who are injury prone (Howard & Lehtonen). It's a miracle that I don't adore Gustavsson at all. :p :(

Re: NHL 2015, Part II - Stanley Cup Playoff Race and Beyond

The only way I'm rooting for the Blackhawks to lose is if Calgary advances or they play the Capitals. No way in hell I'm rooting for Anaheim...
