So, the Red Wings are the 8th place team in the Eastern Conference after their loss to the Caps today.

The Sens are only 3 points behind. Three games remaining: Carolina home and away with Montreal in between.

Are the Red Wings going to hold on to a playoff spot?

Not that this will make you feel better, but FYP.

This sucker is tight. Two of the teams in contention, Pittsburgh and Ottawa, play Tuesday.

They can clinch Tuesday with a win of any kind, and a senators regulation loss.

Meanwhile in the KHL....

SKA (St. Petersburg) was down 0-3 in the series to CSKA (Central Red Army) in the Western Semifinals. SKA tied the series at 3 and they just won Game 7 3-2 in Moscow. SKA plays Ak Bars Kazan for the Gagarin Cup.

I wonder what the army postings in Donetsk are like this time of the year?

I always knew the Red Army were the Sharks of the KHL

Red Wings won, but the Senators won too. That last playoff spot is still open.

Pens can't hold a 3-0 lead even when you want them to.

For those with Comcast, they are giving a free preview of the Extra Innings package this week. Why am I posting this in the NHL thread? Because they are using Center Ice channels and as a result Center Ice is unlocked for the last week of the season.

Some team in the West clinched a spot. Not that it matters, obviously.

I wonder if that has to do with most sports(?) (NHL, WWE, etc.) using MLB's platform for their streaming, or if cable just doesn't have enough channels to use.

That's on the Cable Co's and not MLB. I think it harkens back to the analog signal days where combining the feeds saved bandwidth. And now days, Comcast, et al, just don't care to open up the bandwidth. They even refuse to carry more than two HD channels.

*whew* Glad the Wings are in for sure. I know teams have to get ticket sales but the Wings offering playoff tickets two weeks ago felt premature.

That has been going on for years. I think the reverse has been true, too.

JF: There are not enough dedicated channels for season packages, so you get that overlap.
