Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

@frank_seravalli: Through 2 nights: 3-on-3 OT in 7 preseason games. A winning goal was scored in 6 of 7 and only 1 of 6 took longer than 2:05. (@TSNResearch)

#BanTheShootout

I like this, despite the super small sample size.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but 3-on-3 OT is bound to produce a lot of winners until coaches and teams come up with new strategies and everyone adjusts.

Watched the Caps / Canes practice 3x3. Caps Kuznetsov (another F'in Russian!) comes down the left wing and fires a clapper far side and misses. Puck rims out of the zone and Carolina has a 3 v 1 and pots it.

Moral. No slappers unless you're dead on or go short side.

Don Cherry, is that you?

I think you're right about slapshots. You're screwed not only if you miss, but if you're blocked. I tell myself that's why Cornell hasn't tried a slapshot since 1987.

I seem to recall a Wings/Sharks playoff series a few years back where another player learned this the hard way.

I was thinking about that earlier. It's going to be great to see how it plays out, and which teams can figure out their own recipe for an advantage.

I still imagine it's going to yield somewhere between 50-75% winners before the shootout. Going to be pretty difficult to try to shut down any team with that much ice available.

One particular Russian has ruined Washington since 2005.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Welcome NHL preseason! How glorious is it to have hockey in HD once again on my TV.

And cue the inevitable "Did the Wings change the font on the back of their jerseys?!?!" :D

@ScottLevinWGRZ: CONFIRMED: Lawyers for alleged #patrickkane rape victim will hold a news conference Wed at 1pm Cornell Mansion @wgrz

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Oh poop. Chain of custody of the rape kit was broken. Was placed on victim's Mother's front porch and ripped open.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

...and apparently the cameras zoomed in on the accuser's name printed on the bag.

Welp.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Raise your hand if you saw that plot twist coming, because I sure didn't!

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

This pretty much assures Kane not being charged then? Unless they can link him to tampering.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

My god. I hope they can pin this on him along with the rape. What a piece of scum.

Statement from Hamburg police department
In regard to the information conveyed today by Mr. Thomas Eoannou, the Hamburg Police Department will cooperate with any authorized investigation regarding the handling of evidence and the procedure of such. That said, The Hamburg Police Department has documentation that unequivocally demonstrates that its handling of the evidence and the integrity of its chain of custody of evidence in this case is unassailable. As is policy with active investigations, there will be no further comment regarding this situation.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

"...integrity of its chain of custody of evidence..."

All they need to do now is see who signed for the evidence last.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

And now the Erie County police commissioner just released a statement that all evidence in the case is accounted for in its original packaging.

Have fun.
