Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

There's more than a marginal difference between the teams they play on. You could put Gretzky on the Leafs and they wouldn't make the playoffs as it currently stands.

What are you 5 years old or a Flyers fan?

Yeah, but you think you can replace Kane with Kessel. I don't think the planet works that way.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

They'd be the first center and first forward I would take if I was forming an NHL squad.

Me too.

Coz of intangibles or the whole package, not a label of being "the best."

It's semantics, but a different argument.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

You may want to quote properly there trix, you are making it look like the two passages you cite in post #239 are from the same poster/post and they are most certainly not.

Fair enough. I have nothing against either poster but probably good to avoid confusion.

Yeah, but you think you can replace Kane with Kessel. I don't think the planet works that way.

Performance wise I don't agree. I also doubt Kessel's personality would be some huge detriment knowing what we know about Kane.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

The clown car that is the city of Glendale and the Coyotes continues.

The city, lacking much sense, has indicated they won't back down:

And on a lighter note (sort of), a Coyotes fan gets to Taser the mayor of Glendale. She's the same fan that totally ripped the City Council this past week at a Council meeting and someone ponied up thousands of dollars so she'd be the one to get to Taser the mayor (for charity).

Yeah definitely a clown show over there. I really should watch some of those council meetings if I ever get the chance.

Huh. I guess the Blackhawks ARE an expansion franchise formed in 2007. They're on their THIRD Cup according to some people down town.

THIS is why they get the "bandwagon" label. Apparently '34, '38, and '61 don't exist.

I'm beginning to lighten up on my stance regarding Blackhawks fans (on account of the way the Badgers are being run into the ground in a Wirtz-ish fashion), but it's still kind of fun to think of the post-Bill years as being a "reboot " of sorts.

Do you really think that the people who arranged that are unaware of the other 3 Cups?

I suppose the players that were holding up 3 fingers for the team photo didn't know about those other Cups either?

Keep hating. It seems to be all you've got. :D

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Given the mentality of some people, I don't think this is as far-fetched as you think it is.

Or they are only counting "modern era" which is stupid when it comes to titles.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Exactly. The 1960's might as well be the 15th century.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

I'm the last one to want to defend Chicagoans, but all we've heard over the past couple months is talk about 3 Cups in 6 years tied to talks of dynasty.

All of the local and national coverage is referring to the 3 Cups that this core has won in such a short time.

I'm 100% sure that is what they are referring to.

I bet you'll even see t-shirts with the number 3 on them. Count on it. 1-2-3!

There's no doubt that there are bandwagon fans along for the ride, but where aren't there when success like this happens?

Keep hating though. The Hawks will get another one before most (all?) of the rest of your teams do. ;):p

:D

And then there will be a giant #4 on a building and you all can pretend again that your teams' fans are somehow different or better or more loyal.

Yes, yes I do.

You mean the seven Blackhawk players who actually won the cup three times? (Seabrook, Keith, Hjalmarsson, Sharp, Hossa, Kane, and Toews) If any other player held up three fingers, they're morons.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

I wasn't hating in my post. I was simply pointing out to what I think they were thinking.

This CHI team is a dynasty, for sure. One cannot deny it.

Yes, yes I do.

Those are the ones who did.

Maybe if you were paying attention instead of taking chip shots from the disgruntled Wing fans' seats, you'd think about all of this before posting that as proof of something.

There's plenty to dislike Chicagoans about. Dig a little deeper next time.

Maybe you should think about it a little more critically.

I got the 3 reference immediately as I am engaged in what's going on.

Much like the Packers, the Hawks and other Chicago teams (especially the Bears) are constantly trotting out their former players and celebrating their teams' past accomplishments.
