NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

But that's different. They knew going into that season and they didn't cancel any of the games. Based on the shortened, tightened up NHL season, there isn't any time to really re-schedule and it is possibly screwing up potential playoff positions. I'm not worried about the team, though given the re-scheduled game from February, which is on Tuesday, and the one from this past Monday, they have many more games to play in a shorter amount of time. It's a bit of an unfair advantage. Would they change the start dates of the playoffs if necessary?

Maybe for their series? I'll give you that it's a tough row to play so many games in so few days.

I have a feeling they'll have white-hat ****-clown in time for tonight's game to go on as planned.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Red Sox game is "on hold". Transportation to the TD Garden and to Fenway Park are both heavily mass transit dependent, which is now closed down. The problems of the NHL, the Bruins, the Pens, the Red Sox are trivial relative to what's going on.

The tough thing for the Bruins and the NHL is that the game matters, it's late in the season, and there is no easy way of making the game up. Would be difficult to delay the start of the Bruins playoff series, because it's not even clear who they'd play.

Is there another sheet available nearby? DC? New York?

Yes, it wouldn't be home ice, but it wouldn't be in Pittsburgh either.

Not really sure how much the home crowd matters anyway. We all like to think that it does.

Anyway, hopefully they have this rat at least cornered in time for the game. I'd like to see/hear tonight's anthem!

Not just availability of ice. Took a quick look at the schedules, and it looks like it would involve games on three consecutive days with travel in the middle, so you'd probably have NHLPA issues also.

Well, then the right thing to do would be to delay the start of the playoffs, but it's the NHL, so they'll probably move it up a day.

Also, there may be a lot of parts already in place that would be difficult to change including sharing arenas in NBA cities.

How epic would it be for Toronto to lose out and not make the playoffs? I kinda like them this year but it would be hilarious to see their fans reactions.

My reaction would be far from hilarious. Even if they do make it, they will be one and done if they play like they have this week :(

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Brad Richards just picked up his first NHL hat trick, if you can believe it.

Rangers have scored an improbable number of fluky deflected goals and lead the Sabres 8-3 late in the third.

Hey SteveP!!!

The Leafs are in the playoffs!
The Leafs are in the playoffs!
The Leafs are in the playoffs!

But they gotta figure out how to change the shot imbalance.

Loving all the Leafs playoff tweets. Here's my favorite
RT @MonikaPlatek: The @MapleLeafs have made the playoffs. No one has ever tweeted that, because Twitter wasn't around back in the day. #hockeynight

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

The Rangers eliminate the Devils. Now Marty Brodeur can spend all of his summer on the links. Sausage links that is. :D

Actually, I think that was even before Al Gore invented the interweb.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Watching the Wild tonight vs Flames.

There are multiple passengers on their roster ... surprising and sad.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Oh yeah. Imagine the noise if they wind up facing Montreal in round one ;)
I heard on TSN Radio the possibility of a beer strike in Canada during the playoffs (don't ask me who is striking, the distributors, the transporters, or the sellers)? Talk about national suicide!
