NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

The puck to the face that Stahl is scary but I think it is a players choice to wear a visor or not, they know the risks.

And they are f*ing idiots to not take simple precautions. Hey, if you get cut like Malarchuk, that's a freak thing (incidentally, also brought about the goalie neck guards). But to not have some sort of face protection? Insane.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

I agree they should wear them.
They all have to wear them in college or juniors and then they turn pro and take them off, it makes no sense and at least for me, I see nothing "unmanly" about wearing a visor.

It's GAMEDAY!

Again.

Loving the condensed season. :D

It sounds crazy, but I can see how players don't. I wore one the last month of my officiating season as we all have to wear them for MSHSL games next year. I absolutely hate it.

I never minded the half-shield for playing and thought a full cage would be too much of a pain to go back to. Went back to it about 6 years ago and have been smoked in the face by pucks probably 4 or 5 times since then, so good thing I did. Took me one skate to get used to it.

Everybody's different though and can understand that it might be different for reffing where you're actually trying to watch things. The line at the bottom of the shield could be distracting maybe?

Definitely, plus I sweat a lot and haven't found an awesome remedy for it or the occasional fog.

I used to be that guy with the full shield when I played minor hockey and found that taking some shampoo with no conditioner, and rubbing it on the inside worked well to eliminate fog. Somebody has suggested it, and sure enough it worked. Plus it made my helmet smell a little better ;)

Dish soap works too.

From theahl.com:
03/06/2013 Brandon Bollig (LW) Rockford ADD Returned on loan from Chicago (NHL)

If the Blackhawks lose tonight, immediately tune to WGN Radio 720 or 670 The Score. Talk radio will be filled with how he should never have been sent down. (Even though he's been mostly useless according to my Hawks friends.)

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Ugly game by the Hawks, but they win in the end.

Avs gave them all they could handle, but really sloppy play by the Hawks in the neutral zone and especially in their own zone - lots of blind and bad breakout passes. Ugh.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Carcillo with the GWG....the Hawks are just toying with us all now...

Last two nights have seen teams forecheck us pretty good though and that's a concern for a team like Chicago who's plan is predicated on puck possession.

Now to be real, it's only a concern where the streak is concerned. Right now the Hawks are getting everyone's best shot and tonight was not their best effort. Once the streak ends, things will return to normal and then the Hawks can try to do enough to secure home ice through the playoffs.

As a fan, I hope they get the streak. No doubt.

But another Cup or at least a really deep run is the real goal.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

The Hawks are ridiculous. I hope Sharp, Shaw, and Hossa are okay.
