Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

If Weber had done that to Crosby you can forget about a suspension, Bettman would have already kicked him out of the league.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Helm's having surgery on his wrist. That's not going to help. Not sure of tendon damage/

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Wow this thread slowed down. 5-minute major for the Kings. Hopefully they do something with it.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Saw the replay of the end of the Preds/Wings game. Henrik came in a little high on Weber, but that's no excuse for socking Zetterberg in the head and then slamming him face-first into the glass.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Other than actual Canuck fans, who could root for those clowns?

Everything that I've seen suggests that the rest of Canada can't stand that team. Read the TSN message boards and you'll see.

They are certainly my least favorite team. Go Kings!

Wanna hear the meltdown? Stream AM 1040 out of Vancouver. It's pretty funny stuff and they talk Canucks all day, every day. When the Hawks took them to game 7 last year, you'd have thought it was the Cuban missile crisis and that the survival of our planet hung in the balance. Of course the riot coverage was, well, a riot.

Yes, I am that petty and I am a hater.

Canucks suck. Burrows is a vag - biting, snake punches, pulling hair. Bieksa is too talented to play like the d-bag that he does. Looooo is weak mentally. The sisters are diving Euro soccer players who disappear as soon as anything gets a little rough. At least Torres is gone.

Kessler is the only one I respect (although the embellishing is a black mark) and would take on my team. (EDIT: Actually Schneider too)

Ok, I feel better. :)

Based on Bradley-Terry rankings (i.e., KRACH) found here, the updated (after 4/11) most likely outcomes are:

West: VAN in 7 (20.2%), STL in 5 (23.5%), CHI in 6 (16.5%), NSH in 5 (22.1%)
East: NYR in 5 (24.3%), BOS in 6 (18.2%), NJD in 6 (18.5%), PHI in 5 (20.1%)

Overall winning probabilities:
West
VAN 51.4% - LAK 48.6%
STL 76.9% - SJS 23.1%
PHX 46.8% - CHI 53.2%
NSH 73.7% - DET 26.2%

East
NYR 78.6% - OTT 21.4%
BOS 59.5% - WAS 40.5%
FLA 39.2% - NJD 60.8%
PIT 31.0% - PHI 69.0%

As always, KRACH is not a perfect predictive system. In fact, it's not predictive at all; it's retrodictive. Home-ice advantage, momentum, and the like can not be accounted for reliably, so they are ignored.

EDIT: Yay, new KRACH values!

No!! Not you!

On the other hand, I agree with your view of the Nucks and Nucklehead fans. Some of my hatred for them transferred to the Wings along with Bertuzzi (who should still be in jail, or at least out of the league)

...Yes, I am that petty and I am a hater...
You're also a Blackhawks fan. So hating on this team is pretty easy. :p

Now, as a fan of their farm team, I like the Canucks. They were my second favorite after the Red Wings, and once the Wolves affiliated with them, it was easy to hop aboard them again. But that may have been because their games were always on CBC HNIC when I was in college. :D

With the injuries continuing to pile up for the Wings, at what point do they wave the white flag?
What irks me most is that one third of the lineup faced Milwaukee and Rinne in the minors... and they can't score on him to save themselves. :(

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Using the handy dandy NHLwheelofjustice.com:

Shea Weber, hit head on, Henrik Zetterberg, not injured = "Paltry Fine."
Byron Bitz, boarded, Kyle Clifford, not injured = "One Game Suspension."

And for Priceless:
Shea Weber, hit head on, Sidney Crosby, not injured = "Paltry Fine."

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

NHL Wheel of Justice gets one right. Again.

"@TSNBobMcKenzie: As @cmasisak22 tweeted, $2,500 fine for NSH's Shea Weber."

Should have been a game, minimum.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Back to the Vancouver hatred. Here is a small sample from TSN. There are like 50 pages of this...

Back to this for a moment and I know you're just yanking my chain a little.

The thing about the Canucks is that I don't like them AND I don't respect them. I'm not the only one either. This is why they are universally hated - by more than just Hawks fans. Sure, we've been playing them each year in the playoffs lately and familiarity breeds contempt, but it's more than that.

I don't like the Wings (although I've never been amongst the "Detroit Sucks" chanters - think that smacks of inferiority and Hawks fans look bad when they do it), but I respect their players, coaching and organization.

That, at least for me, is what separates the Wings from the Nucks in terms of how I dislike them.

Healthy rivalry dislike for the Wings, total disdain for the Canucks (entire organization including GM & coach).

Two sheets. One with the winners and one with the picks. Column headers of match-up, game # / game date, scorer / pick. The pick sheet also has poster name and points (if statement and a lookup function or an array function). You can use a pivot table to tally up posters' scores. So, each poster will have two rows devoted to each game that goes into OT.

So you're vomunteering to do that?:o I'm decen with spreadsheets but not great with te functions. Hell if you write the formulas into a workbook, email it to me and I'll do all of the recording:p

Praying Toews plays tonight!!
