So, the Atlantic and Central divisions are pretty good.

Edit: Sorry, what I meant to say was that the Patrick and Norris divisions are pretty good.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

You know what's really annoying? Computer generated ads on the glass behind the goalies. I just can't not look at them....so I guess they work, until I switch the feed on Center Ice.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

It's a good thing the wings locked up a playoff spot, otherwise they'd be trying to give it away. Nothing like backing into the playoffs, although I guess it worked out alright for the Cardinals last fall in baseball huh? ;)

If they don't get home ice, they might as well have not made the playoffs. They've sucked on the road all year, and are now starting to swoon at the worst time to do so. If they have to travel to Nashville or Vancouver, they're likely done in the first round unless they really get their arses in gear.

I'm hoping they fall to 6th and get Dallas/San Jose/Phoenix/LA. But yes, they are horrendous on the road, however one would think that out of 4 potential games on the road, they could win 1.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Interesting that 3 of the goalies in top 5 for save percentage are "backups"-Elliott, Schneider, and Rask.

Elliott/Halak are really a tandum pair, I don't think that you can consider one or the other the undisputed #1.

I wonder how much Schneider and Rask benefit from the fact that they tend to be "protected" from playing much against the top teams, both are very talented goalies and would be significant upgrades as #1 netminders for many teams in the league.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how that shakes out come playoff time.

I realized that was the flipside to the stats-maybe the "number 2" goalies tend to get what the team thinks will be easier games to give the main starter a rest. But yes, Rask and Schneider could certainly be starters in a lot of cities, and there was talk at trade deadline time of teams wanting Rask, but Boston refusing to even consider trading him because they want him around in a few years as their starter.

Flyers at Pens went full Eddie Shore.

This makes me smile as a Rangers fan. Here's to hoping it turns into a 7 game bloodbath. Props to Schenn for punking Crysby. The only thing that would've made it better is if Giroux got his wagon fixed.

Any game that coaches get thrown out of qualifies as old time hockey.

I can't believe Matt Cooke was not involved at all.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Can't wait for that playoff series..should be absolutely phenomenal.

Gotta love everyone's immediate instinct to go all out old time hockey.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

It would be OK with me if the Pens and Flyers just had a month long series and they gave the winner the Cup. Very entertaining. I find it harder to hate the Flyers this year, and Giroux is fantastic.

I always find it easy to hate them. Especially that little ***** named Claude Giroux.
