Re: NFL 2019-20: The Patriots Are A Terrible 11-3 Team!

Vikings and Seahawks each have a shot.

Titans and Texans not so much.

Min 24 SF 20
Sea 17 GB 13
KC 30 Hou 17
Bal 31 Ten 10

Bet $100 on that four team parlay and you'll win $1460 when it hits.

On the other hand, bet $100 on the four road underdogs, and win about $19,000 when that baby hits. :D

I'm going to say SF, Seattle, and Baltimore to be sure. Experience says while I want to pick KC, I also know not to favor Andy Reid in the playoffs.

Well, the opening drives went as well as can be expected for the Niners.

That's crazy about Theilen's ankle.

So far, so good. Vikes are credibly in this.

Re: NFL 2019-20: The Patriots Are A Terrible 11-3 Team!

Maybe Cousins will eat his spinach and beat Bluto.

Nope. 49ers too physical for the Vikings today. Unless Jimmy G throws a Pick 6 or something, I don't see the Vikings scoring again (outside of perhaps a garbage time TD).

Re: NFL 2019-20: The Patriots Are A Terrible 11-3 Team!

Niners have a habit of letting a 10-14 point third quarter lead whittle down to the last play, so possibly not. But if they put it in here then time is starting to run out.

Outside of the Diggs touchdown, Minnesota has done absolutely nothing on offense today. Today, the two score lead was insurmountable.

Re: NFL 2019-20: The Patriots Are A Terrible 11-3 Team!

Vikings will have a lot of turnover on the defensive side of the ball. They are already $4m or so over the cap, and have the following free agents on the defensive side of the ball: Mackensie Alexander, Everson Griffen (club option), Anthony Harris, Jayron Kearse, Andrew Sendejo, Trae Waynes, Stephen Weatherly, and Eric Wilson (restricted free agent). Given the cap situation, I also anticipate that Xavier Rhodes has likely played his last down as a Viking. Should be a very different look defensively for Minnesota next season...but maybe that will be a good thing.

Well, good luck San Francisco...at least until the Super Bowl. The 49ers were, by far, a better team than the Vikings today.

I like Cousins, but if he were a hockey defenseman, his name would be Roadcone.

They'll probably compete for a playoff spot again. And if they make it that will be good enough again.

On offense, they should be good at TE and WR (other than depth), and I like Mattison. Given that, I think they need to re-up Cousins and Cook, and then figure out how to improve the offensive line.

On defense, I think the glaring issue is getting better along the defensive line. I trust Zimmer to fix the defensive backs (which could also improve by subtraction), and I think the linebackers are a good group that will continue to get better over the next few seasons.

Overall, the Vikings should compete for the division title, and will be in the mix for the playoffs. However, as today showed, getting a first round bye will be critical.
