NFL 2017: With Dollar Signs in Goodell's Eyes

No idea. Classic example of relative motion. Wilson threw backwards but was running forwards so the ball traveled forwards.

Seattle winning puts Minnesota in the NFC's #1 spot, thanks to the fourth tie-breaker.

There we go. Pieces in place. Let the epic meltdown begin. :D

You don't get off that easy. Seattle will be more than willing to hand you guys a heartbreaking loss in your stadium on January 21.

Do you have to be standing still to lateral the ball legally?

No. But you have to throw the ball backwards > x relative to yourself when you are moving forward x relative to the field.

Unless you're a ref in the Pac-12 CCG. Then even if it goes forward apparently it's a lateral. (Or if you're a ref in a certain 1982 game.)

Weird, they should probably change that rule to allow for what we saw, that was an exciting play and seems within the spirit of the rule.

Oh I can just imagine. Blair Walsh kicks a 57 yard field goal as time expires. You'd have to sign a new kicker though--guy wouldn't make it out alive.

edit: oops, beaten to the punch.

1 game suspension.

And evidently going to appeal. Not sure I agree with appealing, unless they can somehow guarantee that the appeal can get expedited or (ideally) they could time the appeal so if he misses a game it's the next Buffalo game. They can beat Miami or Buffalo without him, and given his injury history, he could benefit from a game off anyway. But it'd be nice to have him for Pittsburgh.

I'm pretty sure the appeal will be heard before the end of the week. I think he just might want to have a say about getting mugged almost every time he goes out on a pass route.
