Also Bud Grant is crazy.

When it gets cold Bud breaks out the windbreaker. ;)

Great story in today's paper: When Jim Finks hired Bud he told some guy in the organization to go pick up Bud at the airport. The guy asked Jim how he would know which guy is Bud? Jim thought for a moment, and said, look for the guy who looks like a Sheriff. :D

The Vikings in the playoffs with the ball and a lead near the half and they take a knee. Where have I seen that before?

That's the point. Mental battle. And many do live here year round, which helps overall acclimation.

My point is that at some point, the dangers are more applicable than the mental battle.

Yea, you are tough for getting frostbite, but getting it means that you are hindered.

Then again, having played hockey on an outdoor rink at -20, it's also stupid.

Little Vikings turf story. When I was 9, I was a regional PP&K winner, Dakotas, Iowa, and Minn, I think, and was asked to compete at a Vikes' game at Met Stadium. Never been to a pro game of any kind. Total prairie hayseed who had never been to the City. Worse than now, even.

This was around mid November, and looking at the field from the stands it seemed perfect: green and smooth, though there were snowbanks near the sidelines. To me, of course, it looked make believe, nothing like the brown hardpan back on the prairie. When I got down on the field at halftime, I was shocked. Turf was loose, gaps in places and very chopped up and rough, and it seemed frozen underneath. I realized then that it was a place for a dogfight, not a track meet. Not Randy Moss' kind of field.

This is a strange game. Seattle has looked like they are about to break it open on offense the last couple series. Yet they somehow end up with nothing.

43-yard field goal at that temperature is probably about the limit

Agree. Despite being down 6-0 in the third I still feel fairly good about our chances. Though Wilson has missed a couple simple roll-outs that would have had the Minny D second guessing themselves.

We seem to be slowly winning the line battle on both sides. But we do eventually have to, you know, score.

Minnesota's kicker was dead-center from 47 just now, with plenty of room to spare. He had a good 5-7 more yards from where that came from.

When the Blair Kick Project is on, he's friggin' ON. Today? He's on.

And the laces were in, Dan!

Too many field goals, not enough TDs, going to haunt Vikings
