NFL 2015.1 - if the ball weighs as much as a duck, it's a catch!

I love how Bob Costas and all the other NBC peeps are saying how it's -5 out yet none of them are wearing hats. You know, it's not going to hide who you are to even wear ear muffs. Idiots. And how does NBC get this game? Shouldn't FOX have both?

I think all the networks get 1 WC game to share the ratings wealth?

It's not really an advantage. ESPN reported that in the history of the nfl, only 0.2% of all games have been played below temps of +10. While it appears that you have an advantage due to living there, the actual game experience just isn't there.

Even if it's 20 degrees out...lot colder than Miami, Arizona, etc, this time of year. Or snow. A good storm affects things, too.

There is also an NFL rule that if home team uses heaters, the visiting team must be provided heaters. Bud Grant said no heaters, period. Mental edge goes to him on that.

I'd be curious to see a distribution of where players are from... I don't know it's an advantage to have a 25 year old kid from Tampa, FL or Houston, TX who ditches Minneapolis the day after the season ends...

The heater thing feeds a perception. And at some point, the lack of one is just as bad for your team as it is for the visitors. Frostbite does not care where you are from.

Most of the team isn't from the north, nor do they have to play in it during the offseason

Besides, Seattle has their own crappy weather that is more unique to them.

It looks like every major network is getting one game this weekend, ABC/CBS yesterday and NBC/FOX today, rather than CBS/FOX getting all.

I thought CBS had both games yesterday?

No... ESPN and NBC get a Wild Card game as part of their deals for Sunday/Monday Night Football... It's been that way going back to at least the 90's... That's why ABC had the Music City Miracle.... They had MNF at the time..

I would be totally happy with a KC/Den vs. Arizona Super Bowl. I know the NFL and networks wouldn't be though.

That's the point. Mental battle. And many do live here year round, which helps overall acclimation.

Isn't Frostbite Falls in Minnesota?

Getting some first downs is really helping the Vikings control this game.

MN is just nickel and dime-ing Seattle, which is a smart move in this weather.

SEA's P may have a broken nose. That's my take, anyways.

Random question: when the Gophers played in the Metrodome with the old style turf I remember the end zones were a different color turf. Did they rip it out and reinstall the Gopher end zones or was it just a thin carpet they placed over and hoped no one would trip?

Also Bud Grant is crazy.

Fixed.

And SEA P has a "nose injury."

The entire Metrodome field was a carpet that could be rolled up and changed for the various games and teams playing.

Seattle is adjusting to the cold, starting to overtake the Vikings.
