We're already at 300% (maybe more, this was earlier today) of missed PAT's from last year. 24 this year, 8 all of last year.

Field Goals. Make it harder. The bleepin kickers are drilling them from 55 yards. Back in the Days of Rozelle, 40 yards was long.
Then move the hashmarks back where they used to be. I miss power sweeps. And the wide hashmarks will make kicking the bleepin FGs a lot harder.

One small change they could make is to eliminate the practice of different footballs for the place kickers. I have to laugh at the rationale one kicker made, "In cold weather it's like kicking a rock." A bit of hyperbole there, and even if it's semi-accurate, other players battling each other on "frozen tundra" that must seem like concrete, and you're complaining that the ball's too hard? Make them kick with the same balls that other players use.
And while I don't want to open a can of worms here, but the balls should be provided by the league, just like major league baseball. If there's any prep, it should be done by league officials, who should be in control of the balls at all times.

They setup the Special K balls after it got out that teams were manipulating a certain set of balls used in the game for use during, punts, FG and PAT kicks. Remember the coffin corner kicks from the 90s and early 00s during the punt game? You don't see them as much anymore, do you? Special K balls.
The hash marks in the NFL were moved closer together in order to give the offense more room to work - to help the NFL run up the score the way the fans wanted to see when the change was made. Defenses became too good at protecting the narrow side of the field, creating more complex schemes for the wide side that confused the offenses. So the brought the hash marks closer together to force the defenders to play more balanced schemes and allow the offenses more options.

No, it would not be too confusing as teams that have used shared fields in the past with both sets of hash marks. The Bears during Soldier Field's renovation played on natural turf at Illini Stadium is the first that comes to mind. It wasn't confusing, but it was a slightly messy look. If the NFL is anything, it's an image conscious organization, and would be hard pressed to allow something that could be construed as a messy look.

USF plays their home games at Raymond James. The NCAA hash marks can be seen, but are faded out and maybe painted over with a grass-like color. I wouldn't go as far as distracting, but it's there.

In all my years of watching Albany Firebirds games, I have only seen this attempted once, and it was made by Firebirds kicker Dave Silvestri. I also thought they should do this in pros, and if it hits the net and bounces back in to the field of play after a miss its a live ball. That would certainly make the game more interesting.
Edit: Also, in the Arena League, you couldn't go for a two point conversion, you had to drop kick it after a TD to get two points. I like this option as well.
