NFL 2015.1 - if the ball weighs as much as a duck, it's a catch!

Re: NFL 2015.1 - if the ball weighs as much as a duck, it's a catch!

In all my years of watching Albany Firebirds games, I have only seen this attempted once, and it was made by Firebirds kicker Dave Silvestri. I also thought they should do this in pros, and if it hits the net and bounces back in to the field of play after a miss its a live ball. That would certainly make the game more interesting.

Edit: Also, in the Arena League, you couldn't go for a two point conversion, you had to drop kick it after a TD to get two points. I like this option as well.

I thought I saw it once at a MN Fighting Pike game (yes, I was a season ticket holder the ONE year they were in existence, best seats in the house for $100~?! OKAY!). I do like the net-is-live aspect.

The NFL is good, the NFL is great
We surrender our will as of this date.

NFL fines DeAngelo Williams for raising breast cancer awareness during breast cancer awareness month

We've covered DeAngelo Williams and Cameron Heyward's battle with the NFL over the Pittsburgh Steelers teammates' crusade against cancer in great detail in this space, and last we heard the parties seemed to have an understanding with the league over what players can and cannot do to raise cancer awareness.

As with many things in the NFL, though, a handshake agreement isn't worth much.

According to the NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, Williams' eye black featured "We will find a cure" and the breast cancer ribbon during breast cancer awareness month, and the league fined him $5,757 for supporting a cause near and dear to his heart. Earlier in October, the NFL denied Williams' request to wear pink all season in hopes of continuing to raise awareness about a disease that took his mother in May 2014.

Oh, it gets more bizarre. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Williams hasn't just been wearing "find the cure" eye black this October; he's been sporting it for going on five years now, and this marks his first fine. Ironically, his first fine for raising breast cancer awareness comes during breast cancer awareness month.

Nice Second half by Rapelisberger. TF F

Bucs blow a 20-3 lead in the second half against Atlanta, after the Washington choke job last week.

Horrible play calling. Horrible coaching.

4th and 1 at your own 40 with 2 min left and you're up by 7, and you go for it?

I don't mind them going for it, but trying a cute PA bootleg run instead of a simple sneak?

Smh. They went way too conservative last week. So I'm glad they took the chance but way, way too complicated.

Sure, but your not down 7, you're up 7 and in a position to put them in a deep hole.

Can't be any worse than your punter getting called for a 15 yd facemask to put the ball within FG range and NO beats the giants 52 49,

101 combined points, third most in NFL history.

How did that work last week up 6? Oh. Had they converted, Atlanta only has 1 timeout remaining. That's all over but the singing. I'm fine with the idea, not the play call.

Bucs win in OT, regardless.

Yeah. We know better: that's why we get paid the big bucks.

I'd like to thank the Chicago Bears entire team for its choke job to secure their home loss to the Vikings this afternoon.

Lockette from SEA gets blowed the eff up on a legal hit. KO'd. Stretchered off, but he raised his hand to the crowd on way out.

Flag on the play, btw. For a legal hit.

Flag on the play because it was a scary hit, legal or not. The officials wanted to cover their a@@es with the head office.

I don't like that precedent. Flags should be because of the penalty, not the result.
