How the **** has Detroit landed both games where snow has ruined a stadium?

****ing Detroit.

Re: NFL 2014-15: Iron Fist Getting Rusty?

The Raiders at 1-10 would only be 3 games out of first in the NFC South.

I don't really get the pick this time around. Last time it made some sense: The Vikings played in a dome, it was extreme short notice, and if I recall there was trouble with getting Philadelphia to Minneapolis so even playing at the Gophers would've been tough with snow removal and whatnot.

But now? They've had a few days notice and obviously had multiple plans in place. The Meadowlands, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Toronto are all closer than Detroit. Heck, Syracuse even offered and that's probably the best alternative, but the NFL turned them down due to "technology deficiencies."

The Meadowlands is a home game for the Jets. The Steelers are laying new sod this week after multiple HS playoff games on the same day, and Toronto could cause passport issues. Cleveland may or may not have a home game this week.

EDIT: Cleveland is on the road. Maybe they don't want it. I don't know.

Syracuse also has that AHL game going on Saturday and a Cuse basketball game on Tuesday vs. Loyola. It would've been Herculean to ask them to change it all that quickly. The tech issues thing is B.S. The Orange play games with replay all the time at the Dome. Lame excuse.

Those were all the options the NFL said they considered. Didn't know about the sod at Pittsburgh, makes sense why they weren't chosen then when that was probably the first option. Obviously the Meadowlands is a home game for the Jets, but they gave the Giants the home game against the Saints during Katrina, though that was a very extreme circumstance.

Edit: On 'Cuse, this article says they would have been able to do the hockey-football-basketball transition.

One slight difference. Although the Giants were home when they played the Saints, it was a designated "home" game for the Saints. The stupid NFL let Saints season ticket holders have first dibs at all the seats. Nitpicking, I know, but slight difference. This time around, they can't move the games to the Meadowlands, the Giants have a home game against the Cowboys on Sunday night, and I doubt that the NFL wants to move the game to Saturday.

Cleveland Stadium is a grass field, Maybe they didn't want that game there to tear up the grass.

long friendly history between the Wilson and Ford families. There is speculation that the Bills will stay in Detroit and practice until the snow melts to a reasonable level.

Given the way things are going with stadiums, "technology differences" probably mean not enough club and luxury seating.

I doubt that it's a lame excuse for the tech aspect. The NFL has said in the past that it has more camera angles used for internal purposes - team analysis video and such, than we will ever see on TV. I doubt that an NCAA team will have all of that equipment capable of catering to the NFL's desires. As for not playing in Cleveland, I can only imagine that they were interested in a dome in order to control as many variables as possible after having to move the game once already, and therefore Cleveland didn't fit the bill.
