Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Much more surprisingly, the Polians have been fired by the Colts. Rumors that Caldwell could be gone too.

I think this is real funny, as Polian is a jack @ ss who tries to get rules changed when his team can't compete (thank him for the touch football league we have now). However, I don't think this is necessarily a good move by the Colts. Its like if fat slob Ryan got canned by the Jets I'd laugh my head off, but if you asked me if that was a smart thing to do I'd probably say no. Not sure why you'd clean house on the front office and keep the coach. Maybe Irsay plans on moving the team in the middle of the night again, perhaps to LA this time...

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

And then, on the opposite side of the spectrum, San Diego is bringing back Norv Turner. The guy could very well be the worst coach in the history of the NFL. He's a lock for the top 5 that's for sure. Are the Chargers playing for draft picks next year? I'd love to be in the front office when these decisions get made.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

So the LA Vikings get either Luck, Blackmon or Kalil. I can live with that, even though they were still stupid to win that game and **** away the chance at locking up Luck. Also, knowing the Vikings, they will probably forget to draft and pick a DE at #5.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Eagles hang on to Reid.

How long until Philly has a fan revolt like the Lions did under Millen?

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Great, the Vikings promoted Spielman to GM... the same guy that put together the roster that produced this season's 3-13 abortion with perhaps the worst secondary in the NFL.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Predictions for this weekend.

Cincinnati @ Houston - I think Houston is the better team, but they have a lot of injury issues. So I'll take Cincinnati to eek this one out.

Detroit @ New Orleans - This game could be absolutely fantastic from the offensive standpoint with two 5,000 yd passers and nearly 100 TD's between them. But you have to take the Saints at home. Plus that egg they laid last year against Seattle is going to be fresh in their minds.

Atlanta @ New York Giants - I don't trust anyone in the NFC East this season. The Giants are Jekyl and Hyde. Meanwhile Atlanta has really got it going, so I am taking the road upset here.

Pittsburgh @ Denver - Denver's defense seems to have disappeared lately and that means trouble. I feel like the game will be fairly close, but the Steelers will just find a way to win, even if Charlie Batch had to play for some reason.

The Wilf's didn't want him to "get away". Just like Frazier. God forbid they have to hire anyone who isn't in the coffee clatch.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

Christian Ponder told the DP show that the Vikings GM Rick Spielman assured him that the Vikings will not draft a QB with the 3rd overall pick.

There are plenty of other holes in the Vikings lineup that need more attention than QB at this point. In fact, both the defensive secondary and the O-line are massive black holes of suck.

That's dumb. You should not let players dictate what you do as a team in the draft. They should take the best available player at 3, even if that is RG3. If they then want to trade him away for other assets, do so. But making those kinds of promises to players is just silly.

There are only 2 guys that they should worry about. They are named Blackmon and Kalil.

That type of thinking is how the Lions ended up drafting 8000 wide recievers under Millan. You have to draft the best player available who most improves your team. If that player isn't a good value where you are drafting you trade down in the draft to get a better value and an additional asset for the future. Until the Vikings address their OL needs, who they have at QB won't really matter.

And they could use another receiver, too. Preferably one that catches the ball when it comes to him. A big part of the bad start to the season was dropped passes. While I think benching McNabb was the right move, they probably shouldn't have signed him in the first place, a lot of his bad numbers could be hung squarely upon the receivers dropping balls.

Forgot that Atlanta and the Giants are even in the playoffs. No idea on that game. Like the other picks though. As a Pats fan, we're looking for both wildcards to win in the AFC, thus setting up Cincy @ NE and Pittsburgh @ Baltimore. Let the fun begin...

I agree except on Atlanta. Giants will win that game.

Re: NFL 2011: The Suck for Luck edition

I've got the feeling Tebow & Co. take out the Steelers. The Steelers might not have enough healthy bodies, and now they're down a RB coach.
