This is an HOF quote, courtesy of my buddy: "Carson Palmer is the Don Majkowski of today. He's the best thing that Cincy has seen, but he's still crap." :D :D :D

Does this mean Cincy's next quarterback will be considered a Godsend by Bengal fans before they turn on him late in his career and they declare him the anti-christ?

Some referees that could use a little support:

Pink whistles may lead to 2-game suspension

BOTHELL, Wash. – Dozens of local football referees used pink whistles at football games Thursday night. Now, their governing body may throw the flag at them.

The referees, who are part of the Pacific Northwest Football Officials Association, are using the whistles to raise awareness for breast cancer research. The referees are also donating their game checks to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

However, the chair of the Washington Officials Association Chair Todd Stordahl says the refs didn't ask for permission.

"They chose not to ask for permission, not to go the right route," said Stordahl. He says the move sets a precedent. Last year, a softball umpire wore a Hawaiian shirt. Stardahl says there are state official rules for what is an appropriate uniform and this particular association disregarded the rules.

More at link.

The unofficial poll is running 95-4% in support of the referees.

Only one more week of this pink crap for another year. Really, is there anyone out there who *doesn't* know that boobies can get cancer? Donate some money if you feel like it, but do it without the patting on the back of wearing pink crap everywhere.

People know that smoking causes cancer, too.

I wish they would just do it for one week. This pink thing is getting old.

I think it's a noble cause. However, I wish they would put this much attention into Prostate Cancer. It was last month, but no one made a big deal of it. I'd like to see some blue out there just to even it out.

Nick, I do think the board that governs the officials needs to fight other battles instead of withholding game checks from officials.

if they want big money to come rolling in, have the cheerleaders go topless for a week...that is something we could all support

Re: NFL 2010: Now Extended By Two More Posts

... and? Personally, I'd be happy if they got rid of the gross-out anti-smoking ads too.

So that means any attempt to spotlight must be bad.

Saying that everyone knows about breast cancer is foolish. Yes, everyone on this board knows about it because most of us are college-educated and go to the doctor regularly. We are not the average person. We are certainly not the people at whom the awareness campaign is aimed.

Re: NFL 2010: Now Extended By Two More Posts

There is nothing wrong with spotlighting it. Spotlighting it for a month though is overkill. It is ironic the attention Breast Cancer receives when heart disease is the leading killer of men and women in the US.

The Vikings-Packers game was the worst officiated NFL game I've seen in quite some time. Too bad.

Both ways...its not like the vikings were robbed...there were plenty of important plays that the refs screwed up that hurt the packers.

I'd lend my hands to support each and every pair.

See, it is people like this, willing to step in and lend a hand (or two) that make America the country it is today.

Makes me proud...excuse me, got something in my eye.

I think it's hard to argue that most of the big calls didn't go the Packers' way. But the Vikings, and especially Favre, made enough bad mistakes that they can't blame the refs for losing. Admittedly, Childress was an idiot to not challenge the one Packer touchdown, but you also wonder how no official on the field saw the ball bouncing around, even if the end zone guy had his view obstructed. And the Shianco non-TD call was pretty bizarre. And .....

And there was pass interference on Randy Moss' touchdown catch (you can't run over a cornerback to open up a lane for your teammate to catch a pass), and on 4th and 1 you don't blow the whistle so quickly when the guy really hasn't stopped moving, and there was pass interference on Walker's INT by the corner covering the WR...it was a horribly officiated game. As for Shianco's non-TD call...I can understand vikings fans being upset...I really don't know what should have been called but the fact that the point of the ball hits the ground and shianco doesn't control the ball the way he was holding it, leaves me to believe it was the right call.

I'll give you the Walker interference. The others, no. You just look at scoring plays, and the Packers got a TD that clearly wasn't, while Shianco's seemed pretty solid. I thought maybe the replay guy would give the Vikes the TD at the end to make up for the botched TDs earlier in the game. Not really, but the thought crossed my mind.
