Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

This.

And the Mpls storm was during rush hour. On a weekday. And we still managed to put 40K+ in the stands. Just sayin'.

I'm sure there are 50,000 morons in Philly that would have still gone to the game. The thing is the police would rather not have had them jamming the streets in the middle of the night while a blizzard is raging. But clearly they're a bunch of Nancies

And that's our point. :p

Yes, you've made that abundantly clear. Obviously the league erred when listening to police and other public safety officials when there was something as vital as a game of football to be played.

Hm. They declared a state of emergency before a flake fell. They postponed the game when the ground was dry and the air was clear. And they also apparently forgot about the snowstorm of about equal strength (from reports I've gotten) that happened before/during MNF last week in MN.

I'm just saying that MN deals with it. The easterners run and cower. :D

hahahaha, that was the part that made me laugh my azz off. The declaration of an emergency based on weather terrorist reports. State of emergency...

According to the Wunderground.com, the weather for Minneapolis on December 20:
Precipitation 0.36 in
Snow 4.60 in
Wind Speed 11 mph (ESE)
Max Wind Speed 21 mph
Max Gust Speed 25 mph
Visibility 3 miles

Current weather conditions in Philly:

Heavy Snow, winter storm warning
Wind: 19mph (NNW)
Gusting to 35.
Visibility 1 mile, expected to fall to .25 miles

The airport in Atlantic City had 15.7" of snow at 7PM.

But clearly the weather is about the same.

They can say whatever they want. I guarantee there was far more than what they are saying and visibility was just as terrible. I drove home in the **** snow storm and my car was bottoming out (again) on the snow on the highway.

Easterners are just pansies. Plain and simple. :D

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Atlantic City is quite far from Philly. ;)

And from all reports, the postponement was due to the fans' safety. And being in the heart of the storm last Monday, visibility was not 3 miles. Keep up that eastern bravado. You guys have nothing on the midwest. :D

And if you want to take football out of the equation, the snowstorm that killed the Metrodome delayed/shut down some things, but from my travels that day, most businesses were still open, and populated (save for the last bar we were at).

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

I didn't even catch the Atlantic City bit. Holy smokes. Go 60 miles in a circle around MSP International and you could probably find the same conditions.

Well, the big storm that hit the TC that Sat didn't leave barely a flake in Duluth. It was just cold there. Hence my stating the distance of ATL City and Philly. ;)

Singletary was just fired by the Niners.

And the SNF flex game will be the epic showdown between those powerhouses, Seattle and St. Louis.

That's a dam shame about Singletary. He didn't have much to work with. I think he's a fine coach. And the NFC West is an embarrassment.

He should have ran away with the NFC west...his style belongs at a midwestern college...not the NFL.

He had a crappy QB lineup, a decent (and injury prone) RB (Gore), Vernon Davis (who he had to call out before Davis performed), the Crabtree Effect, and well, that's about it.

I think he has what it takes. Imagine Chili, Gailey, Shell, whoever with that mess. Hell, Shanahanigans had twice the talent and basically did the same. Just sayin'.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

Sorry but Singeltary deserved to get canned. I have watched him coach a few times...it left much to be desired. His team couldnt beat out a bunch of mediocre teams to win the worst division in football. No coach survibes the run he has had.

If you're looking for a storm of equal strength, you'd have to go back to the one that dumped 1-2 feet on the southeastern half of MN. If MN was scheduled to have a game the night of that storm (Saturday), it certainly would have been postponed, given the fact MNDoT was advising no travel within the metro area. Then again, the Giants wouldn't have made it here anyway due to the airport cluster**** that existed that weekend due to said storm.

I know people here love having their regional p*ssing contests, so feel free to continue that - but in this case, I completely side with the NFL and the city officials. If there's a high likelihood your locale is going to be dumped on by heavy snow and high wind, the last thing you want or need is an extra 50,000 vehicles on the roads.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

I really like Singletary as a person, but his team was just a disaster. So many unforced errors and mental mistakes. Not to mention his handling of the quarterback situation.

Um the 49ers, as I mentioned just a couple posts ago, are rather mediocre themselves. It's not like he had the 80's 49ers under his belt or anything.

Or perhaps we're smart enough not to drive around in that much snow.
