Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

Heard it was a good game last, unfortunately I couldn't see more than half of it.

Hate to break it to all of you, but we still suck. Northern is just as ****ty as we are.
Black out drunk?

Black out drunk?

Students from a certain school ignoring the usher's requests to sit down, and therefore blocking the view of some of that school's students/alumni. Not to mention, blocking the view of most of the NMU fans to the right of us. Disrespectful.

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

yes, Johnstone looked real good. so did Furne. and Holmberg.

I have drank the Kool-Aid. I bathed in it last night. every cell in my body is Kool-Aid. I *heart* the Kool-Aid. I am Kool-Aid. We are all Kool-Aid. Ich bin ein Kool-Aider.

The nice part is we still have Dennis Rix, Brad Stebner, and Jordan Baker (healthy) to add even more to the lineup.

I'm curious what changes occur tonight at LSSU.
Johnstone and McCadden were two that were not penciled in over the summer.
If they are solid as mentioned, then we finally have some depth.....
Reddick and Witt are going to be eager to get into the lineup as well.

Go Tech....

I had always wondered about Johnstone. We recruited him so young (by our standards), and then he struggled to adapt to top tier junior hockey coming straight out of the MWEHL. Part of that was his age - it's tough for a 17 year old rookie to compete in the USHL, a league whose top players are usually 19-20 year olds. He also played for a really shitty Green Bay team and coaching staff his first year, which didn't help his development. Then the Gamblers' new staff came in and he clearly wasn't part of their plans, and so he was finally traded last season and put up decent, though not eye-popping numbers. All the while, the Tech coaches were insisting that he was a skill guy. I guess we'll see what happens as his freshman season progresses.

Hate to break it to all of you, but we still suck. Northern is just as ****ty as we are.

Shhh! Let's pretend we were both ranked! ;)

What he said, on the first note. I seriously did not see a single goal or penalty. And yes, I watched the ENTIRE game. At one point, I had my head under Boosh armpit so I could see.

Shut up Yager.

Was Johnstone as fast and as skilled as they made him out to be on the broadcast?

Not only is he fast, he's got great control along the boards, he was consistently keeping the puck away from 2 defenders at once in the corner.

In the exhibition game he looked like Paul Cabana.
I'm optimistic* that Robinson can have a great year, we can score more than 3 goals a game, our defense will gel and knock people over, and we can win 15 games.

*this all comes crashing down tonight, of course.

How tall or big were these people? :p Was Shirtless in front of you? ;)

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

I once had to stand up for three straight hours. After which I spent 37 days in the hospital. It was terrible. People could have died last night from standing! It's a health hazard!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Dirty again.

Shirtless was not there.
Yager was 20 rows in front of us, and bbdl was in our row, taking care of the height issue. We had retarded overly nerdy idiots in front of us who don't seem to know what hockey is even.
Also, I had a 9 year old next to me, because some kid's family decided they missed him so much, they needed to come to sit by him at the hockey game.

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

I loved having the Misfits there. I don't care if they don't know hockey. they will learn. I don't care if they stood up most of the time. it annoyed the NMU fans. *click click click*

all you nay sayers. get a life. deal with it. Tech might be good this year.

Well maybe you should've got your ticket somewhere else... instead of taking one of the Misfits' tickets and sitting in the back, swearing up a storm because they were standing for a few minutes. You are such an embarrassment to Mitch's Misfits and Michigan Tech with the way you behave sometimes. Maybe you should've been at the Gophers game since they're your team. Everyone else had a good time. Why couldn't you have tried to do that and not be a jack bag? Grow up.

According to him, that was because once he got past 5, he got distracted.

And I'm not saying we shouldn't stand up. I'm really not. But that's in places where they're a little better designed for that. If someone stands in front of me at the JMSIA, that's a fully different story. But when I'm standing up and I STILL can't see, and I came to actually watch hockey, I'm going to be ****ed, end of story.

Completely agree. If the Misfits had been in the end of the arena, they would not obstruct any sight lines. While it is true that I could have moved (I did), that is not my concern. We should not expect the NMU fans to move because we are standing in the way. The BEC is kind enough to give us a block of tickets for a section, the least we can do is return the favor and let their fans enjoy the game. And now, I'm done talking about this :D

Oh, I'm sure that sucked for some people because the Berry sucks...its too shallow!

Welcome to my life. I can't see at hockey games unless I'm in the front... hence why I'm always in the first row at Tech hockey games. :p If you cannot see, boot a (preferably tall) freshman up front out of their seat and send them to the back. It is best to try to overcome adversity...rather than just complain about it.

And yes to what Shirtless said. The Berry is not very steep, so that doesn't help us shorties either.
