Alright, I quit. We're going down the tubes. I give up.

Too soon?

The good news is that Hokydad has you finishing 5th the WCHA. the bad news is that you're behind Alabama Huntsville and Bentley in his poll.

shows what he knows. I wonder just how much anyone on this thread cares what he thinks anyway. He's got less credibility than foxton to tell the truth.
I think Tech will be a lot better and will win a number of games not figured to win. How many, who knows but a lot more fun to watch.
Of course I'm an eternal optimist.

No thread kill for the old thread??

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

Laughing my *** off at the Homecoming webpage. Tech has completely institutionalized it.

The event rules are a scream. I love the rule where the driver of a <strike>hobo car</strike> parade float has to blow .00, THEN KEEP THE BREATHALYZER IN HIS MOUTH WHILE HE DRIVES. Failure to do so is not just a foul, but a DOUBLE foul.

Heck, the foul system is more complicated than any of the farking events. There are double fouls and MAX fouls and triple dog dare fouls and double bacon fouls with cheese...I think some frat should just set a goal to see how many fouls they can pick up over the course of the week. Sounds like a job for SCUM's.

I think the Huskies Pep Band should switch from instruments to breathalyzers for Homecoming parade. Might be amusing to see what sort of numbers come up.

Just read through some of the rules myself, I thought they took things seriously when I lived in the dorms...now they're covering everything that we got away with MAX fouls

Soccer game becomes a blowout and you leave early? MAX foul!

Don't leave two inches around your window painting? MAX foul!

Accidentally leave (the ruins of) your cardboard boat at the beach? MAX foul!

Every time I saw the word "double foul" I thought of Dean Wormer putting Delta House on double secret probation.

I move that we name all Tech penalties this year "double fouls." Game misconducts can be MAX fouls.

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

We actually managed to bring our cardboard boat from freshman year back to the dorms, disassembled the outer frame (that's all the got wet) and we stored the inner filler (basically a couple layers of cardboard grid) for the next year....worked pretty well that second year too....until the outer layer took too much water

Check this one out.

DETROIT - For his youth career he wore Blue for the Calumet Ice Kings junior hockey program, last fall he was wearing Gold and Black with the Ojibwa Eagles, last winter he sported Blue, Grey and White with the Calumet Copper Kings.

Last weekend and tonight he donned the Teal and Orange that NHL superstar Mike Modano wore as he debuted with Detroit Little Caesars and this weekend he'll be wearing Red, White and Blue as he dresses in a pair of exhibition games for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program.

Ben Johnson decided he had an opportunity he couldn't miss last weekend when the coach of the Midget Major Little Caesars team called him and said he had an extra jersey in his trunk.

The Calumet native played in a pair of games, scoring a goal and an assist, and will play again tonight as Little Caesars plays Detroit rival Belle Tire at 6 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena.

After he takes that jersey off, he'll head to Ann Arbor where he'll get a chance to skate with the USA NTDP Under-17 team as they host the Traverse City North Stars.

"It's a dream come true to be able to play for your country, it should be a fun experience and we'll see what happens after this weekend," Johnson said.

The team hasn't made a commitment for the season to Johnson, and he hasn't made a commitment to Little Caesars either.

In fact, according the Johnson, he could be right back in Calumet come November when the Copper Kings hit the ice with what could be the most talented Calumet team in more than a decade.

The high school junior is currently attending Brighton High School outside of Detroit where he's living with relatives.

"It was just a chance I couldn't pass up," he said.

If he doesn't stick with the USA team he'll go back to playing with Little Caesars, but the call-up wasn't exactly a surprise.

"Basically they talked to me earlier in the year and said if they're short of people I'm the first person they're calling," he said. "They asked if I wanted to come up for the weekend, and go up to the rink and get all my equipment and everything."

Johnson told the team he was scheduled to play against Belle Tire Thursday night, and they told him to play that game before coming to Ann Arbor and playing Friday night at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

The USA NTDP plays in the United States Hockey League, the highest level of Junior "A" hockey in the United States and has produced such NHL talents as Rick DiPietro, Erik Johnson, Jack Johnson, Patrick Kane, Phil Kessel and Jimmy Howard.

They cut the undergrad mining program a few years ago, but they still have the graduate program (I'm a Geo Eng major)

Check this one out.

I know it's alphabetical order and all, but when they list their NHL talents I'd choose someone besides Rick DiPietro to start such a list.
