New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Also, I don't like the WCHA TV banner graphic, because a "package" can be less than a full season (a weekend pass, etc.). It's ... weird.

And the price points, well, I don't like them, mainly the team-specific one.

If you're part of the media, the packages improve greatly (as evidenced in this email addendum received with the announcement):

MEDIA NOTE: To assist in your coverage of the WCHA and our member institutions, a 50% media discount is available on league-wide or single-team full-season passes to accredited media (those media holding working credentials at a WCHA member school for the 2015-16 men’s hockey season, or that were provided credentials at the 2015 WCHA Final Five). For more information, please contact Matt Hodson at mhodson@wcha.com.

A smart move, especially if it assists in coverage (which it can't hurt no matter what).

Holy smokes. That will make it easier to sell to my wife.

Give it a few years, my wife has figured out that plans on Friday and Saturday don't get made until after the hockey game finishes. She doesn't even bother to ask any more. :)

I'm sure it will take both GF and I awhile to get there...currently, I'm not sure my wife ever wants it to get there...

Haha, It took about 5 years... :) Being one time zone off lots of games helps too

It doesn't help now that I have season tickets to Minnesota United so thats alot of Saturdays in the summer and love NFL on sundays...too many days that I'm focused on sports in her eyes...especially now that we have a child...

There is only one solution... Wait a few, get child addicted to going to sports and whining when not at the sports games. And then the cycle repeats! :D

I gave up the NHL and the NBA for her. I'm pretty much down to college hockey. If my work wasn't pretty all-consuming...

Too bad they don't have some kind of option where you can watch all your team's away games. There's no point in paying $90 to watch the 12 or so BG road games when I can pay $40 more to watch everything.
You will get no additional road games for your team with the full package, except for playoffs and Final Five.

Does anyone know anything about Stretch Internet. Hopefully they are better than Eversport! I was not at all impressed with their performance (or lack of) last season!

I've used Stretch Internet to watch (free) football games. It has been pretty good, mostly depends on the school.

The press release noted: "Anytime, Anywhere: Fans can watch WCHA.tv on just about any device – computer, tablet, phone and many Smart TVs – with a responsive experience customized for that particular medium."

I'm hoping this means there is an app available for smartphones/tablets, not just viewing through the online web page.
If I am remembering correctly, there wasn't much support for mobile devices on last year's WCHA TV? It it works as easy as it is described, it will be a better play for me this year (compared to last year).

$90/$130 seems a little pricey, but seems worth it.

I sent an email to Stretch Internet to ask the questions on mobile support.
Their response:
Our platform is fully compatible with Android and iOS devices as long as they are up to date. We do not have an app but you can access any of the WCHA content by going to http://portal.stretchinternet.com/wcha on your smart phone or tablet.

As long as their login stuff is better than last year, I'm fine with them not having an app.

I plan on trying to stream it to my TV by running it through HDMI from my Kindle. If that fails, I'll use my laptop as a backup.

Last season mobile devices had to use the Hook app. It was kind of choppy on my Asus tablet that is kind of outdated.

Any chance someone with WCHA media credentials can hook me up with the 50% discount? Trying to save some money to buy a house soon. :)

I'm not impressed with the new WCHA.tv so far. I'm trying to buy a package and NOWHERE on the site does it give you any link to buy a package or tell you how to buy a package and how much it costs. The site looks nice on the surface, but I think it was user tested by monkeys. I was able to register with a username and login, but the site still gives me no purchase options/information. They better fix this site quickly as it is an embarrassment to the league.

OK. Stretch TV has very quickly redeemed themselves. I sent them a help ticket and got an email response back almost immediately explaining the situation. Normally you would click on an event you wish to view and it will show you the purchase options. However, the particular event I was clicking (Huskies intra-squad game) is apparently free to view so they didn't have purchase options shown.

They also said they would pass along my feedback to add a $ or other indicators to distinguish between pay and free events and clarify the purchase instructions in the help section to say you need to click on a pay event to start the process of buying a viewing package.
