New WCHA logo

Re: New WCHA logo

Well, Adrenalin, Inc. just became a couple million dollars richer and it only cost them some silver ink and an eraser. ;)

Re: New WCHA logo

"Our slogan for the new season – 'Just Got Tougher' – is a reflection on how we feel about the addition of new league members Bemidji State University and University of Nebraska Omaha. Those two programs not only make us (WCHA) bigger and better but they also make us even more competitive. If you thought we were good at 10, just try 12."
LOL...yeah right!

If you have to explain a slogan, you should probably find another one.

Re: New WCHA logo

What's up with the enlarged W? They may need to go to a doctor and get that looked at...

Re: New WCHA logo

Not a big deal either way. 'Course understanding logos isn't exactly my long suit. I'm probably the last person in the country to see the "11" in the Big Ten logo.

Re: New WCHA logo

It's like having to explain an inside joke.

Bonus irony points given the BTHC cloud that will be hanging over everyone's head after Friday.

Idk about anyone else but I figured it out even before reading the why. Maybe they don't give us fans media, players, etc... enough credit that we'll figure out obvious. :p

I'm Happy its not a huge change, my only question did the jersey companies the teams use get the logo awhile ago or is there going to be a rush on new logo patches.

I'm curious how they're gonna hide a 12 in there

Given the BTHC/Penn State threads, I immediately thought that this was a joke, and the link was going to show Bucky and Goldy doing the Heisman pose with the old WCHA logo in the background :D

On that note: it's only a matter of time before someone puts together a drawing of Bucky and Goldy sodomizing Boone and a tribesman.

Re: New WCHA logo

i don't think anyone can complain that they moved away from that horrid teal color...and the larger W is probably for all the Wins ;)

Re: New WCHA logo

I saw this on the WCHA site:

A total of 96 WCHA-member team alumni saw game action in the National Hockey League during the most recent 2008-09 regular season. All 10 current WCHA-member teams had at least two alums in the NHL (UAA - 2; CC - 10; DU - 9; MTU - 6; UM - 13; UMD - 5; MSU - 5; UND - 16; SCSU - 13; UW, 17).

I thought it was surprising UMN only had 13, to make them tied for 3rd place with SCSU.

Re: New WCHA logo

As someone who knows a lot about this kind of thing, it's certainly a disappointing effort, one that reeks of a low-budget approach and a bad client.

Adrenalin is much better firm this shows- my guess is that they were hamstrung by a bad client (the WCHA) with poor taste.

The campaign slogan should almost never be "locked up" with the logo. Slogans come and go - logos need to do their job without being cluttered with more stupidity.

And the slogan is not worthy of America's top college hockey league. Telling people that your league just got tougher implies that it wasn't tough in the first place. And why is this at all relevant in the much larger Big 10 discussion?

The larger W adds nothing, just further alienates other leagues by emphasizing westernness.

They should have stayed with what they had (simple) or rebranded entirely. The extra tweaks look forced and are unneeded.
