New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Savages:

I liked it. Benicio del Toro and Salma Hayek are great in it. Blake Lively.....eh, meh. The other two guys did a little bit better, but not much. Sure, you have to suspend a lot of believability (c'mon....a couple of basically small-time dealers take on a cartel?), but it was entertaining. Oh, and John Travolta plays John Travolta. No surprise there.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

So I saw "Killing Them Softly" on Friday night because the fiancee wanted to see a movie and we couldn't decide on the Twilight movie (her pick) or Lincoln (my pick). I'm still not sure what to think about what I saw. The whole movie takes place during the 2008 elections with political soundbites in the background from McCain, Bush and Obama throughout. That was strange to me until the the final scene showed why but I still don't really know if I liked it...

Congratulations on successfully avoiding seeing Twilight.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Saw the latest Bourne movie on Saturday and while it didn't break any real new ground, I enjoyed another story in that universe.

Other than the motorcycle chase which we've seen before and went on way too long, I liked it.

Good movie, not great.

PS I will say that a certain lab scene was tough to watch in light of Friday's events. :(

The Bourne flick would have been better if it had an actual ending. I swear it is like they were paying the writer by line and ran out of cash so they just ended it. Very strange.

I always just figured they were setting it up for another movie. Apparently Damon is not opposed to coming back provided Greengrass is involved.

DEADLINE: Matt, you’ve said recently that the Bourne Legacy spinoff didn’t make it any easier for Jason Bourne to return. What has to happen for us to see your signature character back onscreen?

DAMON: Just a couple things, really. Paul Greengrass has to want to do it, and secondly and equally important, it comes down to Paul and I knowing what the hell we want to do. We just don’t have a story, and we haven’t had one. I quietly went to Jonah Nolan, because he and his brother Chris did such a brilliant job on Batman and that whole mythology. I just said, can you put your brain on this? I can’t figure it out. And he took a run at it and he couldn’t crack it either. Paul and I have been talking about it for years. And we can’t quite see what the movie would be. If we could get line of sight on that…

DEADLINE: We are force-fed so many unnecessary sequels, and here is a smart thriller that we actually want to see more of…

DAMON: Neither of us is against it. I would love to do another one. I love that character. To me, the reason to make that movie is because people want to see it. Paul and I have said that to each other. We don’t take for granted the fact that we’ve built an audience for Bourne, that’s a real privilege. But our part of that bargain is that the movie is good and belongs with the other three. Until we can deliver that, we just can’t make it.

I guess that I just assume that there will be a sequel.

I'll agree that it was rather loose...

No I know there will be a sequel...somehow the whole ending just felt off I guess.

I saw Argo tonight...too bad it had to come out the same year as Lincoln because otherwise I think it would win Best Picture. it was pretty awesome :)

I do want to see that. And Hitchcock with Hopkins. Other than that....not much out there that fans my flames.

Snow White And The Huntsman

I liked it more than I thought I would Theron is indeed great as the evil queen, and Stewart is, well, Stewart. Good visual effects and decent story line. Of course there's going to be a sequel, but still was disappointed Stewart didn't choose her "king" at the end.

I really can't stand her, but **** if Bella didn't look good in armor. ;)

I liked this movie too.

Oh, I'm not saying Stewart is hard on the eyes (btw, yes, twice on Sunday)....just commenting on her acting. ;)
