New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

The Bourne flick would have been better if it had an actual ending. I swear it is like they were paying the writer by line and ran out of cash so they just ended it. Very strange.

That's precisely how I feel about The Departed. Spectacular movie completely ruined by the laziest ending I have ever seen.

King Of Devil's Island (Norwegian movie)

Movie based on an uprising at a boys' reformatory in the early 1900s. Stars Stellan Skarsgard (which is why I was interested in it, since he's always been a darn good actor). If you know anything about this type of story, you know what to expect, although thankfully they didn't show any, um, "incidents;" they just mentioned them. I liked it, the 3 main kids did a good job in their roles, and I actually thought Stellan did well as a supporting role of the story, rather than taking the spotlight away from the bigger-role actors.

Poetic ending, although a little cliched. Didn't bother me though as it was still a good closure to the movie.

This year's total is in:

16.5 hours of the 24 hour Christmas Story marathon were watched. 6 missing hours were for sleep, 1 hour was due to travel, and 30 minutes for Christmas Dinner. :)

Very nice. I watched the first showing last night then went to bed. Today I think I watched 2 in a row and parts of it throughout the day including the last half hour of the last showing. Then I switched it over to Scrooged on HBO Comedy.

There was lots of quoting throughout the day and laughing to myself since I was watching it alone most of the time.

The Tree Of Life

What a horse* piece of goddam crap movie. I got about 1/2 hour into it before I wanted to vomit out of my eyesockets. I just about broke my Netflix copy just so some lucky soul wouldn't have to sit through the remnants of a burnt placenta that this movie is. Horrible.

So I tried watching A Christmas Story again. I took as much as I could and had to turn it off. That movie is absolutely TERRIBLE. The one laugh I got out of what I made it through was Santa kicking the kid in the face.

While you're entitled to your opinion, your opinion is still wrong.

I just think it's terrible. I sit there the entire movie thinking, how can people think this is great?

It's an ok movie, I understand how some people can like it, but it just isn't a movie that I'm going to go out of my way to watch from start to finish every year.

Considering how so many people seem to love it, I have no idea how I had never even heard of A Christmas Story until 2 years ago (at age 29) when my mom got a Red Rider BB gun for Christmas. Also, there is apparently a sequel where the kids have reached driving age.
