Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Nat'l Lampoon Christmas Vacation

Watched this last night. Never gets old.

Wondering though, I have a DVD copy of this movie and the quality, both picture and sound seem to be terrible. Wondering if the Blu-ray version is better and/or worth getting to replace the DVD version I have.

Coming soon.

On one hand, remakes suck and 3D remakes REALLY suck.

OTOH, Dario Argento is one of the great horror directors (though to be honest he does more with less, and less with more, so I'm hoping he has a severely restricted budget).

For some reason, I think watching Clark's sled ride in Blu-Ray would be awesome. Same with the squirrel in the tree. :)

Superman III is so wonderfully horrid. Talk about a perfect train wreck that you cannot turn away from.

I wonder how man of our fellow boardmembers are at Tron right now? I have a feeling I will wake up tomorrow to 3-4 nerdgasms in here. ;)

Do you think we will get any "Post Tron Suicides" like we did with the last visually stunning yet story lacking movie Avatar? That would be EPIC :D

Still haven't seen Avatar, so maybe I'm wrong, but my understanding was it had a story, just that it was a highly unoriginal one (ie, Dances With Wolves in space).

Correct. Avatar had a NTSA story (Not this **** Again).

Of course, there are only seven basic plots, so nothing's been original since Sophocles, and he was probably just riffing off Aeschylus.
