Re: New Poll Predictions for 2/8

First run through...St. Norbert was #3.

Second run through i said what the heck and put CSS #3 because they won on Saturday while SNC tied Superior.

That's the only reason. Me, being an eastern that hasn't seen either team play, I think of them as the same team for the most part because of their similar records and then they tied on Friday making the equal comparison seem even more true.

I think these two teams are interlocked to wherever the other goes through the rest of the year unless one loses while the other wins etc.

So, since SNC tied, while St. Scholastica won, that's why I moved them ahead. Will it happen? Probably not. But, I went for it anyway.

I put St. Scholastica ahead of St. Norbert in my poll this week.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 2/8

National Poll arranged by number of ties

Norwich 4
St. Scholastica 4
Plattsburgh 4
Middlebury 4
St. Norbert 3
Amherst 3
Williams 3
Hamline 3
Adrian 3
Gustavus Adolphus 2
River Falls 2
Oswego 1
Elmira 1
Manhattanville 1
Wentworth 1

Obviously, Derek's favorite two teams suck! :D

That would be a goose egg for Oswego. No ties! We are dead last (with Adrian).

2 Norwich 16-1-4 290 2
3 St. Norbert 17-3-3 254 3

I'm confused (or perhaps just incapable of doing math at the moment, but I don't think that's the case).

If Oswego got all of the first-place votes, that means that the closest Norwich could be in points is if they were the unanimous #2 (which I'm assuming they are). However, wouldn't a unanimous 2nd place come out to 280 points, not 290. It would seem to me a total of 290 would require some first-place votes. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't have a clue, maybe someone else can help, Norm, NU PRof, Crosby, Prez, anybody out there????

I assume that is a typo. Add up all the points in the poll and it should turn out to be 4,200. (20 voters, 210 points per voter). I haven't added things up yet to tell. Best guess is that after SNC's weekend, the two voters who had NU third and SNC second changed their mind, making NU unanimously 2nd

Don't you mean 120pts per voter, for a total of 2,400 (15+14+13+...+1=120)?

It does indeed add up to 2,400 as posted. Which means that either a) Norwich has at least 10 first-place votes and is tied with Oswego for #1 or b)somebody else got ripped off by 10 points.

EDIT: Perhaps the team deprived of 10 points was Plattsburgh. Your computer rankings have them trailing SNC by a statistically insignificant amount, and yet the pollsters have them trailing by 60 points ;)

Ooops I was thinking of a top 20. You are right 15 places comes up with (15+1)(15)/2 = 120 points per voter.
