New Poll Predictions for 11/29

PrezdeJohnson09

Proud supporter of Osmirwich hockey
This should be an interesting poll....Here's my stab at how it shakes out.

1.Oswego
2.St. Norbert
3.Norwich
4.Bowdoin
5.Gustavus Adolphus
6.Williams
7.Manhattanville
8.Neumann
9.Geneseo
10.MSOE
11.Adrian
12.Stout
13.Plattsburgh
14.Hamline
15.Middlebury

Eau Claire wins the Adrian Tournament and beats two top 15 teams yet won't be ranked. Middlebury will still be ranked despite the fact they are 1-3. Buffalo State will probably still be out yet they probably could have a stake at the #15 slot.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

I'll venture to give this a shot. I'm usually afraid to.

Poll gets shaken up this weekend...

1. Oswego
2. St. Norbert
3. Norwich
4. Bowdoin
5. Gustavus Adolphus
6. Manhattanville
7. Williams
8. Adrian
9. Geneseo
10. Hamline
11. Neumann
12. Milwaukee School of Engineering
13. Wisconsin-Stout
14. Plattsburgh
15. Middlebury

Castleton could very well make this poll, IMO

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

1. Oswego 9-0-0 [2]
2. St. Norbert 9-1-0 [3]
3. Norwich 3-1-0 [1]
4. Bowdoin 3-0-0 [4]
5. Gustavus Adolphus 5-2-1 [6]
6. Williams 3-0-1 [8]
7. Manhattanville 4-2-1 [11]
8. Adrian 6-2-0 [7]
9. Neumann 6-2-1 [12]
10. MSOE 6-0-0 [13]
11. Geneseo 7-2-2 [9]
12. Stout 7-3-0 [15]
13. Plattsburgh 5-4-0 [NR]
14. Hamline 5-3-0 [5]
15. Middlebury 1-3-0 [14]
15. Buffalo State 6-2-1 [NR]

Salem loses a golden opportunity to hop into the polls with the loss to UMass-Dart,

Castleton gets 2 wins to improve to 4-0-0, but have not played a very difficult schedule so far, with their opponents combining for a record of 4-16-3.

Elmira drops out, Amherst drops out. Middlebury probably keeps Buff State out of it, but I'll call it a push between the 2 so far.

Bowdoin's 4-1 loss to the US U18 Team won't hurt them, despite Colby beating that team 2-1 the following night.

Hamline drops like a box of rocks after losing to Geneseo and Adrian, both of whom lost to UWEC.

UWEC gets votes, that's for sure!

Really think they drop Middlebury out eh?

I'm 100% with you that they should. But, I just don't see it. If they lost or tied St. Johns...Probably. But they still won, even though it was only 2-1.

It's how I would rank teams....not my prediction of how the poll will come in.
I do consider the previous weeks rankings..........because after # 3 the task becomes more difficult.
I know very little about Bowdoin & Williams for example and whether their perfect record thus far is any more or less impressive than that of MSOE or Castleton.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

My computer's top 4 is OSW, BOW, SNB, and WIL

Problem is that BOW has only played 3 games that count, and just to show you that when teams haven't played a lot of games results can look funny #5 is STM - (at 3-0)

Gotcha.

Have we found out if we'll be headed to land of the CCCP and Cabot Cheese on Dec. 31st and Jan. 1st?

I put both Castleton (granted, weak schedule so far, but I always throw a carrot for my #15 vote) and Buffalo State (beat Plattsburgh, tied Geneseo) in my vote. I left out both Middlebury (no way, yet) and Plattsburgh (step forward, but not enough, yet).

Thank you!! And I agree, while Buff State may not have the skill of a top 15 team, they are getting great goaltending and plan and simple work their butts off. I still think we will see a second half colapse but for now you really have to keep them in the top 15!

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

I have notice that everyone that has made a prediction has Hamline in the top 15 and I can't understand why. Yes, they beat SNC...by a goal. I'm sure people will be quick to point out that SNC had to score twice in the last minute to make it close but I think you could chalk that win up to Hamline having a goaltender with a horseshoe up his..well you know. That, and they have a player named Chris Berenguer who is probably the best player in D-3 that had an outstanding night. Other than that win over SNC, they don't have any other quality wins. Let's not forget they got smoked by Point 5-1. And they left the Adrian tourny with a goose egg in the win column playing teams that lost to UWEC. So to sum things up, 1(lucky) win against SNC + 5-1 loss against Point + going 0 for 2 against teams that lost to UWEC = a top 15 team??? Furthermore, UWEC's wins shows either the strength of NCHA in which case more teams from that conference need to be ranked, or Genseo and Adrian aren't that good and should be dropped lower/out of the top 15 along with Hamline.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

Is this the first time in school history that Buff State is ranked?

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

Just for the sake of giving myself something to do at work, I took the liberty of going through the west and and listing their quality wins(in my opinion) along with some personal thoughts of who I think is over rated/under rated. Its worth noting that when I say west I am leaving out the MCHA because I think the MIAC and NCHA are the only conferences in the west worth their salt. Enjoy:

MIAC:
St. Thomas: Superior  Bethel
Gustavus: River Falls  Bethel
Bethel: Gustavus
Hamline: SNC
St. Johns: St. Thomas  Bethel
St. Marys: better luck next week
Concordia: Bethel
St. Olaf: St. Thomas
Augsburg: Eau Claire  (didn't play many of their regulars/back up goalie) Tied River Falls

NCHA
SNC: Stout (2) River Falls (2) Point (2) Bethel
Stout: Scholastica (2) Point (2)
Superior: River Falls  UWEC(2)
River Falls: Superior  UWEC:rolleyes:
Stevens Point: Scholastica(2) Bethel:rolleyes: Hamline
Eau Claire: Gustavus, River Falls:rolleyes: Adrian, Geneseo
St. Scholastica: better luck next week.

The teams I would like to bring some attention to: Hamline, UWEC, and most notably Gustavus. I think it would be a major stretch to say that Hamilne is one of the best 15 teams in the nation. Their only quality win is over SNC (explanation in previous post). UWEC, they should be ranked only if Adrian and Geneseo are as good as voters make them out to be (I personally think they are over rated). However I would like to bring attention to the highly over rated and over hyped Gustavus team who's big:confused: wins over River and Bethel have them at #6 in the nation. Let's keep in mind that they couldn't get it done against UWEC at home. Bottom line is that Gustavus is nowhere near deserving the #6 spot. Thoughts?

I think every prediction made here reflects a drop for the teams you mention with Hamline being the most significant drop.
If you are going to handicap these predictions you should back it up with your own.
You can throw Eau Claire in there to satisfy your need to increase the NCHA content and few could argue. You wouldn't be able to justify any othe NCHA team that isn't already ranked.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

I had 14 of the 15 in my prediction and 12 (including the top 10) in order.
..........and it is of great concern to me

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/29

Judging by Plattsburgh's ranking, I guess the pollster’s don't consider their latest wins to be over teams of significant quality ;)

Now I will admit I don't know much at all about D-3 hockey out east so I will not pretend like I do. I will however take a stab at the top 10 teams in the west from the NCHA, MIAC, and MCHA.

1. SNC
2. Stout
3. Superior
4/5. Point
4/5. UWEC
6. Adrian
7. Gustavus
8. Hamline
9. MSOE
10. toss up between St. Thomas, Marian, and Lawrence

I'm an NCHA fan too, but your #2 thru #5 are completely whack. At this point in the season, I see it more like this:
1- SNC
2- Adrian
3- GAC
4- Stout
5- Hamline
6- UWEC
7- St. Thomas
8- Superior
9- MSOE
10- Lawrence
11- Point
