New Poll Predictions for 1/31

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/31

I realize they have been on quite a roll but it's hard to block out the Skidmore/Hobart/Curry/Southern Maine slip-ups. I just figured those would have had more on impact on their chances. However, with the mass parity that is D-III hockey this year with EVERYONE it seems having five or six losses or more, that starts to make up for the fact EC struggled early on.

I wouldn't consider a one goal loss on the road to a ranked conference opponent a slip up, nor would a tie to a division leading curry.

Huge gap between 14 and 15, but then 5 teams within 8 votes of #15. Talk about tight!

But honestly, the only thing I would change about this would be: Elmira #10, Manhattanville #12, Plattsburgh #13. Other than that, this is a pretty good result in this poll.

Alright, I think you've taken my original statement out of context. I was not trying to slight Elmira in the least bit. I was simply saying that it was initially hard for me to believe that they could be so high after the early season results.

I know Elmira plays the toughest schedule year in and year out and obviously with the mass parity they deserve to be where they are. I'm not trying to de-mean what the team has accomplished. It's more of a reflection back on how EC has gone from a team that was .500 and just lost to Skidmore and tied Southern Maine who are in the bottom half of the ECAC East to being the #2 seed in the East right now. It just amazes me that it was possible to get to where they are now.

But just to counter your statement, I was not at the Hobart game but from talking with someone that was there and is probably one of the most knowledgable EC posters on this board, if McDonald was left in that game, they win it. Second, Curry places in the ECAC Northeast. That league is arguably one of the weakest in the country if not the weakest. Curry would be in last place in the ECAC West and middle of the pack in any other league at best.

If you think I'm trying to slight EC, check out my signature on what team is listed first. ;)

If we were basing it off just this year's results, Norwich should be at #13, right behind Plattsburgh. Other than that, yeah it's pretty good other than Adrian is probably too high.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/31

Elmira continues to pay for their turkey of a thanksgiving tournament performance.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/31

I know it must be somewhere on this site but when does the first NCAA rankings come out?

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/31

One thing I'm happy to see is it seems like Elmira is finally playing their best hockey in the second half of the season... In Vallaincourt, Willer, McDonald we trust. :)
They were rock solid Friday night at Playland - stuck to the mission while Manhattanville evolved into chippy panic mode.
