New Poll Predictions for 1/24

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/24

Actually no. You made your true feelings known about a third of the teams in the country and can't go changing it now. Can you explain to me what a "midget junior B" team is anyway?

First of all most of us here are aware that Remy likes to go a little over the top when trying to get his point across and we have learned to not pay as much attention to the words as we do the message.

The point is at least a third of the teams in D3 are not very good at all when you compare them to the upper echelon and appear only slightly better when compared to the middle third. Is it insulting to teams to refer to them as midget junior B, sure it is but if the shoe fits.

It's not a matter of opinion that a lot of teams are no good, it's a matter of fact. These teams don't have the coaching, condition, personnel or the institutional commitment to keep up with the better teams and having an unimpressive record against teams like that will not get teams like, Plymouth, Wentworth etc. any national recognition.

Yep - I understand how the process works. Just somewhat surprising that Marian would be ranked higher, but I guess I haven't looked at the specific criteria for this year.

In the end, neither team has a realistic shot at a Pool B (barring some insane confluence of events), but whichever team is ranked theoretically has a pretty big impact on potential Pool B picks, correct? If, say, Hamline were a "bubble" team, I'm sure they'd want MSOE ranked instead of Marian, for example.
Not one Western Region team has a shot at Pool B.

The key in Pool B will be the remaining conference games for the ECAC-W and the MASCAC. Most teams in both leagues have around 6 conference games left. If the West, because of its parity suicides against each other (3-3 down the stretch), it is possible that a hot MASCAC team could strongly contend for the Pool B slot.

Because:
MASCAC would win WinPct
ECAC-W would win SoS
H2H will not factor
Common Opponents may not be a factor, EXCEPT Elmira is 0-0-1 vs. USM while Salem St. is 0-1-0.
Ranked Opponents - if no MASCAC team played a ranked opponent, then that criteria does not apply.

But there are 5 more weeks of hockey to be played + the conference tournaments which could jumble things up a lot.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/24

1. We must be talking about Pool C for the West, because only ECAC W and MASCAC teams are eligible for Pool B. (Personally, I never have made that mistake, except by accident )

2. Remy is known for the use of hyperbole (not to be confused with one of my favorite topics: hyperbolas :D)and Midget Junior B is probably hyperbole for really bad...

3. The polls don't matter.

They don't?! Get out. You must be pulling our leg.

And for those totally incapable of understanding my above response -- :p

Are you dissing my comment? That is totally rude  I feel as though I am at least as credible a poster as fornax.

'Tis all about the $$

Not one Western Region team has a shot at Pool C.
You do remember that the tourney is somewhere out West this year, and the little known criterion "which selection would obviate airfare costs" will most likely be invoked.

You misquoted me!

Do I think the committee will look for a way to get 2 Western teams to Ridder? Yep! But the numbers better be close enough to support it.
