New Brunswick at RPI, 10/5/10

Re: New Brunswick at RPI, 10/5/10

Things just do not change much-we were not a great 5 on 3 team the past few years and it will take a lot more practice to improve this year-but we did get some shots from the point at least

I agree. Bailen is a distinct help on the point. He'll be even better when I don't choose him on the PtC. :D

DrD, I obviously respect you and your opinion. But, I have to say, relax. Just because it was a lousy 5 x 3 doesn't mean it on't be good. This doesn't count in the standings. You get a chance to work on stuff against live competition, not just your team. I'm not too worried that they couldn't score on the 5 x 3. Now, when it gets into next weekend, if they have a 5 x 3 for almost a minute and don't score, different story.

When was the last time we had any real success when we were 5 on 3? it has to be many years. I do not think it is the players-I think this is more of a coaching and preparation problem. When teams go 5 on 3 aginst us-it is almost a sure goal for them.

4-1 with an empty netter. Not a bad game and we played pretty well for a first game and an exhibition. UNB is a powerful team and has played 8 games now. Can't judge much from this one game but we did not embarrass ourselves at all.

I agree that they haven't had much success. It's a start though that there were no shorthanders scored on the 5 v 3. It is something to work on yes, but, I would be more concerned with the mental errors, because, scrimmage or no, those are ALOT harder to fix.

Overall opinion-I give us a B- for the game. An awful start giving up a very early goal and it took 20+ minutes to get our legs. But we played a decent game and the younger players seemed to fit in well. We will learn a lot more next weekend in CC. Go Red!!
