Good to see they plan on playing another year:

Hopefully we can get a team or two back to the DIII finals and win another championship!
Any good Fall gossip out there?
Interesting to see Stevens Point and Lake Forest making a trip to Middlebury.
Hope everyone has had a great summer and look forward to seeing you all come November.

They really need Tufts to start a women's program.

Bearcat...really!

The Bobcats actually have a sweet rink and Lewiston has a storied hockey history. Perhaps they will someday have a men's and women's program. I'm told the club program there thrives.

As for an early prediction, I have Trinity and Bowdoin in the NESCAC Final this year. Trinity's goalie will carry them and I hear that the PBears have some really good Frosh coming in.

Can't wait!

You must knott know the history...Bates is a disaster...the alum who donated the $$ for the rink specifically demanded that the school could not use it to have a hockey team....yes, that's Bates in a NUT-shell.

Predictions...watch out for Hamilton... the Dark Knight rises. [Trinity goalie is good...Hamilton's is better]

Isn't there a nice rink right across the street that the teams could use for games? Not Androscoggin, BTW.

I read years ago that the man who donated the money for the rink stipulated that it could not be used for varsity hockey... makes perfect sense if you go to Bates.

Who in their right mind would donate money for a rink and make a stipulation as stupid as that?!?! Who in their right mind would accept a donation for a rink with a stipulation like that?!?!

Yes, exactly. which is more to my point...That Bates is one weird place.

I know it's still early, but captain's practices are underway.... any info out there on the new recruits? Season Predictions?

My guess:

Re: NESCAC '15-'16 season

Here goes nothing...

Trinity
Middlebury
Amherst
Bowdoin
Hamilton
Williams
Conn College
Colby
Wesleyan

Re: NESCAC '15-'16 season

Tough conference top to bottom. Last season I got to the point of out guessing myself by going with the reverse of what I thought (hoped?) would be the results.
Wesleyan wins
split
split
split
sweep
I guess I mean Williams takes 4 points this weekend.
By the by, let's hope for an all NESCAC final in the other type of hockey they are playing down south somewhere!

not sure what that all means but...

Colby sweeps Bowdoin [Kennedy not listed on roster??]
Trinity a win and a tie vs. Midd
Conn and Amherst split
Hamilton and Williams split

Kennedy is still on the "field" this weekend, but I have heard rumor she will not be lacing them up at Watson for her senior season.

Seems odd since Ganong is also still playing FH and is listed on the new roster. If the rumor is true, it's a huge loss for the PBurrs.

In years past the Bowdoin Fall sports players were all listed on the opening roster despite still playing Fall sports. I would say if Kennedy isn't on the roster then she likely isn't playing. I honestly didn't think she was near the player last season as in year's past - perhaps accumulated wear and tear from two seasons back to back for 3 years (just to be clear, she was still one of Bowdoin's better players).

Conn and Amherst split
Hamilton and Williams split

Amherst at Conn College - Split (Amherst drops off some, CC still capable of big wins but continues to be inconsistent (goalie loss significant))
Hamilton at Williams - Split (think Hamilton is improved this year, Williams has lots of freshmen that will have to figure it out and their returners are average (lost one of their better defenseman to career ending injuries))
Trinity at Middlebury - Midd sweep but two close games, don't think Trinity will be as strong without Potter coaching (hate to say that!)
Bowdoin and Colby - Split (Colby getting better, Bowdoin treading water)
Wesleyan at Johnson & Wales - Wesleyan - probably by a relatively heavy margin

pretty decent predictions Swami...but not sure I agree with the first point [Conn] or the third Trinity]. Hard to make those statements without seeing some results since you have no clue about the players or coaches you're talking about at this point in the season. Let 'em play a few games.
